WARNING -
TomTom home can not be trusted ( and TOMTOM don't care because it makes them money)
There was so many errors on my routes, I checked for updates
Home recommended that I needed to replace/update a map and I foolishly listened to to it. It sold me a new UK MAP £39 when all I needed was an update to my Western Europe map.
Make sure you double check what it recommends -
TOMTOM's helpful response follows.
With all do respect Mr Y****, it is your responsibility to know what maps you have on your TomTom and not TomTom HOME's or any one else for that matter. Gert.
Basically an admittance that HOME knows f all, but they don't warn you of that! |

Surely it told you what map you were about to purchase? _________________ Darren Griffin |

I'm assuming this wasn't a brand new device, which would be eligible for the free "Latest Map Guarantee" within 30 days of purchase?
If that doesn't apply in your case, then apart from the free minor corrections available when you join Mapshare (which would make very little difference to most calculated routes), there are NO updates available for any existing maps.
All you are able to do is buy the latest version. For Western Europe that would have cost you £59.95 or for the Western and Central Europe version £69.95, unless of course you opt for the cheaper UK-only maps... |

Mine isn't a new unit, but a 910.
Yes, it said something like your map is out of date & it recommended the UK Irl map because mine was old etc.
Now I didn't have the UK Map on my 910, it was the Western Europe maps that I'd been using .(I've only used it in the UK, so wasn't really aware of what map it was until I thought about it later.)
So I paid and thought all was fine, Connected it etc all v easy.
But then it said that my European map was out of date and recommended updating that, 12 updates for months for £39 (updates - not a new map)
That's when the penny dropped.
All I'm saying is that although TomTom go on about HOME being so great and easy - don't trust it to do what's best for you, & double check what it recommends.
I've wasted £40 on a map which was already covered on my TOMTOM and will have to pay another £40 for my European maps updates or leave them out of date.
All TOMTOM had to say was TOUGHTOUGH!
Like I'd done it to con them or something, or maybe I want Two lots of UK Maps on my 910. |

TomTom HOME is a pile of unmentionables and you'll find very few fans of it amongst the staff here. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Those "updates" you were offered are four COMPLETE NEW MAPS, not updates.
I'd forgotten to check the (usually excellent) deal price for those, but my point remains, you have to buy new maps. |

Thanks - I was having a cointoss whether to install TTH or not. Guess I won't!
I like being able to control the contents of my files on my TT300 myself.
Cheers D! |

There is no way other than using Home if you want to update your maps though..... |
