yes i have had the device go into 'planning mode' on a number of ocassions.

BUT fear not a nudge again or button press will bring back the snail trail
being overlaid on the map and NO your route is not lost its as though the 'system has got itself in a muddle' so to speak.

The best advice that one can give when NEW to the device go out ON short walks OVER ground that you know akin to the back of the hand- take a copy or notes of the varying operations that can be done on the device-
One doesnt need to take a full copy but make short notes of items that you think or want to test. Then when back home IF you had a difficulty consult the manual OR ask again on the forum.
on these short walks one could have the creen on 'permantely' and one can see just where one is going/been. After this acclimatization one then should set the device to your wants regards power saving.

You could always double press the power button to 'lock' the device. This is on one of the recent releases of software.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for telling me about the double click on the power switch just goes to show how good they are fixing problems with a firmware update :-)

Power up. Press bottom right button to get to MAIN MENU (if not already there). Press lower right hand button SETTINGS. Scroll down using joystick to the very bottom until you get to 'About'. Press upper right hand button SELECT.....and there you have it.[/b]
