Has anybody who has got a TomTom with TMC receiver and lives or has travelled to Barnstaple been able to get a signal? |

I haven't been to Barnstaple recently, but I can't think why you wouldn't get a signal. I had no problem at Porlock a fortnight ago and all the way to Minions a few days earlier. _________________ Dennis

No problem here, live in Bude and travelled to Bideford and Barnstaple today. Used the TomTom and TMC with no problem. _________________ From TomTom One to a 730T, then a 930T, now a 1005... |

What car do you have and is it equipped with an athermic windscreen as these are very good at killing FM signals - If it is athermic the best option is to connect the RDS-TMC aerial to the car aerial lead but ask for advice before doing this as there are plenty of posts detailing how to achieve this - Mike |

Thanks for the replies. My car has a standard windscreen. I wonder if I have a duff TMC receiver? I suppoose there is no way of testing it other than on a TomTom?

Two ways - try it on another TT (any gox20 or x30 will do), or try another antenna from somebody else's TT.
Maybe go into Halfords or wherever you bought it for them to do those tests (e.g. put your antenna on a demonstration model, or put the demo model on your car)?
Maybe add your location to your profile here to see if there's another member close by who you could meet to do the tests? - it wouldn't be the first time it's been done. _________________ Dennis

Good idea Dennis. Now added my location to my profile.
