Guys,

I fancy a change from my standard Britanica and want to know what DAY colour scheme people reckon is the clearest and easiest to read.

I only use my TT on 2D mode if that makes a difference and I really would like the motorways to be in blue so that they stand out in 'Browse Map' view.

PS - I know you can create your own scemes but I'd rather use one that has already been designed.

Thanks

I find the best for me in the UK is a scheme called "GB_New".
I got it from the Colour Scheme Editor website, but it might be on Home as a download too by now.
http://www.colorschemeeditor.com/index.php?p=schemes&lang=EN
It's under the "Schemes 1" tab (along with another one called "UK_Alt" which I didn't like so much).

I like the AA Atlas colour scheme from Tom Tom. Its got blue M-ways green A-roads and yellow B-roads just like the atlas.

I'm with Andy_P - I use "GB_New". Motorways are red, and they do stand out.

Laughing

I have both, but use the AA colours as well. It just seems better on the eye.

I tried to install some schemes from that website but they're not working, not sure what I'm doing wrong:

- I placed them in the 'schemes' folder, they all have .clr extensions
- They show up under 'plugins' in my device (Go730) and I can select one for day and one for night
- back to map and... default colours!

Any ideas?

(I do have a signal by the way, it's not the greyed out map I'm getting)

I use Os_Atlas_2 which I find is closest to a OS map

I would like this as a night scheme as well if I could just turn down the brightness on all the colours.

One day I will get around to it...

Via TomTom Home download. Search for "AA Map" in colour schemes.

It sounds like you are using Home to do the change (".clr", "plugins"). Try changing them via the change colours option in the preferences menu on the 730 itself when not connected to the PC.

What scheme is used for Browse Map?

I had a similar idea. As the .clr files are just text files that you can edit in Notepad etc, I made a new scheme up using the road colours from the 'day' scheme and the background colours from my preferred 'night' scheme.

Using black for the "countryside" background is a good start. Wink

No, I was doing it on the device.

I found that if I download schemes via Home I could make them work, but not via that website. If I download via Home it installs 2 files, one .clr and another one whose extension I can't recall. It seems I have to have both files and not just the .clr one for it work...? If I get it from that website I only get a .clr file...

I only just noticed this...

On my copy of 'GB_New', motorways are blue!
(Unless you're following a route on them of course... then they're the "on route" colour, which *is* red)

I've only ever done direct copy and paste to install the colour schemes, never used Home.... Just putting the one .clr file in the "schemes" folder has worked every time.

Th"other" file you got from the Home downloads is probably a .tlv file. Home seems to use these to get the info about the file which it writes up on the PC screen in home. It isn't used by the TomTom itself at all.

Bizarre then... No idea why the .clr doesn't work when downloaded from that website and placed in the schemes folder, but works when downloaded from home, coming with the .tlv...
