|
|
Hi,
Since I bought my Go 910 I've only connected it to computer once to make a backup. After that I haven't updated any maps or application.
Last week I bought latest UK map and to run this I had to update my 910 to latest TomTom application. Installation of UK map and TomTom app went fine but I've noticed one bug. When TTS reads out distance to the next turn it doesn't match what's shown on screen. If 110 miles are shown on the screen TTS will read out something like 114 miles to go.
I did try searching to see if someone else has posted similar issue but couldn't find anything.
Has anyone come across this issue?
Thanks,
Shazad |

Is it reporting the distance to a roundabout or something on the same road while saying the distance to the end of that road before the turn, or the other way around _________________ Regards Mike |

Hi,
The TTS is reporting the number of miles I need to stay on a particular road. For example when joining the M6 motorway it says stay on this road for 140 miles but on the screen it will display 135 miles to next turn.
I've never noticed this before until I updated my TomTom. Could anyone confirm if this is normal behaviour? |

It is normal for this to happen on dual carriageways.
In the example you gave, it would be the distance to the next instruction/manoeuvre. This might be "stay in left/right lane", or even "Bear left/right", where 2 motorways converge and the exit is just beyond this point.
I would imagine it does it where the M6 crosses the M42. _________________ Richard

I'll double check tomorrow on the way to work but I'm 99% sure that every time tts reads out a distance it more than what's shown on the screen.
In my previous example I had just joined the M6 and I'd needed to stay on this road for 135 miles before I would need to take the exit but tts read outs stay on this road for 140 miles? This just doesn't make sense to me.
Thanks all for taking the time to help. |

I found this too - before I updated to 8.350 and after. When Kate says "stay on the A(whatever) for X miles", the distance she gives is always too much by a few percent. The screen will be clearly showing, say, 10 miles to a roundabout at the end of a stretch of A-road, and she'll say "Stay on the A111 for 12 miles".
I think it's because she gives the instruction too late - it would be correct if she'd given it as soon as you join the road she's talking about, but she waits for a while before saying it. The longer you need to stay on a particular road, the longer she waits, and therefore the greater the error. |
