Does anyone know if it is possible to buy the "device holder" separately which is shown here from anywhere other than buying the complete set? |

Have a look at This although I think its more costly than the full kit of bits your link goes to, but it will be better quality this is a Brodit holder and needs to be attached to a Pro-Clip via the supplied screws or the optional mini-Move-it clip.
Another option is the Herbert Richter compatible holder from Here which is a closer match to the item in your link assuming you already own a Herbert Richter style bracket - Mike |

Thanks for the quick replies, although I don’t think the Handtec is suitable.
I already have the Herbert Richter flexible mount on my old Medion unit. Now I’ve got a Tomtom I was hoping to be able to get just the device holder which would fit the bit that sticks to the screen, but it looks as though I’ll have to buy the complete thing. |

Is THIS ONE the right fitting for the Herbert Richter mounting plate?
I'm sure what you want must be available, it's just getting the Google search terms right!
EDIT: Or how about THIS ONE???? |

That's it, however I may as well get this one and throw the remainder away and just keep the device holder.
unless anyone can find it cheaper!!
Once again thanks for the replies. |

Please can you quote URL's properly. Even if you choose to paste the entire URL rather than hyperlink it (as I have done in editing your posts) you only need this part when linking to en ebay URL:
Code: | http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200339922473 |
Rather than the 5 lines you are pasting. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Consider me suitably admonished!
Always wondered how you did that - I must try and master it Although today is the first time any URL I've ever copied has been more than one line. |

To do a hyperlink it needs to end up looking like this:
{url=www.somewebsite.com}CLICK ME{/url}
The way I do it seems terribly long-winded when I write it down, but only takes a couple of seconds....
1. Copy your entire URL to the clipboard by highlighting it and right-clicking then "copy" or using control-C
2. Click on the {URL} button at the top to put {url} in your text
3. use keyboard 'left' arrow key once to go "inside the brackets" and type "=" (without the quotes). This should give you {url=} with your cursor after the "="
4. Right click (or use control-V)and paste the saved URL into the text after the "="
5. use keyboard 'right' arrow key once to go back "outside the brackets" and type your desired link text, such as "CLICK ME" (without the quotes).
6. finally click on the {URL} button again to add {/url} to the text.
(In all the above it is really square brackets not curly, but I can't show those without the forum thinking I'm trying to use them for real)
That takes a LOT longer to write down than to do![/url] |

Thanks Keith for the suggestion, but I already have a flexible mount which I prefer to use. I've just bought THIS and I'll just use the actual holder on the right of the picture to attach the device to the flexible mount.
I can use the rest as the basis for mounting the unit onto my Honda VTec.
Thanks to everyone who replied with helpful suggestions and especially to Andy_P for explaining how to do hyperlinks.
I think that is now topic closed. |
