Hi Guys,
Can you input POI's into TYRE without putting a route in? So say I just wanted to put where a local karting track is abroad not the actual route so it appears in my TT 930 as a POI...can you do that? |

Hi Moreno
Personally I would just make the Karting track into a waypoint and save it as Karting Track. If that doesn’t suit your purpose then can you explain what you are trying to achieve in a little more detail please. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Start Tyre
Click File, then New
Using the map that now appears place your POI by zooming in and then clicking on the map, in the balloon that appears click on Add to Itinerary and then name your location as desired and click on the small green tick beside the name you edited.
Add any more POIs (locations) that you want
Click on OK on the map
Back on the TYRE main dialogue screen click File then Convert to Tomtom POI file
Click File then Save (or Save As if wanting to rename an already saved file) and you will create a POI file for your TT
Find a suitable icon and name that the same as your POI file and load onto your device
Hope this helps
(edit to add: if it does start calculating a route while entering locations you can either just ignore it or click on the stop calculation button) |

Any reason why you don't want to just do it directly on the TomTom?
Change preferences / forward arrow / Manage POIs / Add POI / - choose the category then / forward arrow / Point on Map.
Place the cursor in the right position then "Done".
That works if you have already got a POI category for Go-Karts. If you haven't just create one first, with:
Change preferences / forward arrow / Manage POIs / Add POI Category / - type the name / OK |

Thanks guys, I am going to try both methods.
Well firstly I wanted to add POI's from TYRE as its easy to find on googlemaps rather than the tom tom itself.
Basically I want to be able to load the POI's as seperate POI's into the TT so that basically if I wanted to visit a certain restaurant on my holiday that I had been to before, or the karting track I just choose the POI and ask it to direct me there. |

Personally, I'd find it on this site's camera submission map, put the marker on the spot and then read off the coordinates. _________________ Dennis

Can anybody please explain why you cannot download POI directly into TYRE from the POI software.
I once recall doing this but it doesnt seem to work any more.
Hay pocketgps(world) removed this feature or is the URL out of date?

Depends on the version of Tyre.
You can just change the file type from ITN to OV2 you will then be able to see your OV2 files and open them.
The latest version see both files automatically. Also on your Tomtom the OV2 files are in the map folder the ITN files are in the ITN file. |
