Just got the 720 from TotalPDA and can't find anything regarding Latest Map guarantee.
Should there be something in the box?
Have not connected to Home yet as not sure if that then registers the device. _________________ Regards

When you connect to Home you'll have an option under the Tools Menu called Use Latest Map Guarantee. You can use this to see what maps it's offering - you can check as many times as you like it doesn't download anything until you confirm you want to download. Any problems contact TT and be firm. They'll sort it soon enough. |

Back up the device using Windows Explorer BEFORE you do anything else, then use Home to update the application to 8,302 which is the latest available, to check the device is running this Navcore software tap the sat strength meter followed by the version box, the resultant screen will show you plenty of information including the Navcore software installed - if its not 8,302 click the update again via Home.
Once the application is up to date use LMG to download and install the latest v825 map, if the Home software fails due to lack of memory space on the device move the following folders to the PC and delete them from the TomTom:
voices
raster
zip
When you have the map updated and showing v825 which you can check as detailed above tapping the sat strength meter you can copy the folders back to the device for full functionality - Mike |

Thanks, it did find one, but failed to install as there was not enough space. When I turned on the 720 there were no maps available.
Luckily I had done an Explorer Back up first thing, so managed to get everything back.
Have just updated to 8.300 it now wants to update to 8.302 which will most probably take up yest more space.
How can I install the Map update with so little free space.
Regards

I guess you didn't see this from the post above yours? - take those folders off the 720 then run LMG, once its sorted everything out put the folders back on the TomTom - Mike

Thanks for the help.
I also removed the mp3's and the demo video to make more space.
Now fully updated
I just wish TomTom home would check first that there is enough free space to install a map before downloading it. _________________ Regards

Thats not a bad idea at all, but sadly there is considerably more wrong with that software than it just checking for available space.
Other than it being needed for map updates I would consider learning about using Windows Explorer and avoid Home at all costs - Mike |

Mike,
I use explorer most of the time, for adding pocketgps speed cameras etc.
Only use Home for Software/Map updates. _________________ Regards
