I had the same problem.
The bmp images are in the root directory/tripmaster/images
The config file shown on the web page has them in mnt/sdcard/tripmaster/images which I copied into the config files. Note the speed alarm files (ogg) are setup the same way.
Since I have a SDcard in my 920, I created those folders on my SDcard and copied the files into the folders including the ogg files.
Now everything works.
I haven't figured out the path to have the files load from the root directory on the device.
I do have an SD card in my 730T too ( wiith nothing on it at present ).
I presume that you leave the config file as per the Tripmaster website:
alarmfilename /mnt/sdcard/tripmaster/speed_alarm.ogg
and
daybackground /mnt/sdcard/tripmaster/images/bgnd_wide_day.bmp
nightbackground /mnt/sdcard/tripmaster/images/bgnd_wide_night.bmp
What folders do I need to create on the SD card ?
What files do I then need to put in the folders I created ?
I am SO nearly there , hopefully these answers will solve my problem. _________________ Keith

On the SD card create a folder (directory) named tripmaster (all lower case). Create a sub folder (sub directory) in the tripmaster directory named images (all lower case). Copy and paste all the speed_alarm ogg files into the SD card /tripmaster directory you just created and all the bmp files from the images directory to the SD card /tripmaster/images directory you just created.

That's it. You are good to go.
Err , no I'm not.
I have done EXACTLY what you suggested faq and still no backgrounds.
I won't know about the speed alarm until I next try it whilst driving.
It is obviously something that I am doing/not doing due to my PC incompetence.
I think I will give up at this point and be thankful that at least Tripmaster is working OK.
Thanks for your help anyway. _________________ Keith

Check to make sure your config file has been saved per the web page, especially the file paths.

Faq , you were bob on there mate !
For reasons that are unknown to me , when I changed the config file and saved it , it did'nt save.
Been back in there again , changed the 2 lines of text , saved it , disconnected my 730T.
I then reconnected my 730T and went and had a look at the config file again and the 2 lines of amended text were still there......phew.
Disconnected again and fired up my 730T and sure enough there they were.
Result.
Thanks faq for sticking with me and guiding me through.
Now , to have a look and see what the 'surprise' is.
Thinking about it , is the 'surprise' the webazar-wide-day.bmp ?
If it is , it is VERY nice and is my background of choice. _________________ Keith

Good to hear of the success.
Until you have those directories and files on the SD card, the config file will edit itself by deleting the two paths. Make sure the the speed_alarm path is still there - that can change to inextant (?) if the file was not on the SD card.
To any one else having this problem, first put the directories and files on the SD Card, then edit the config file.
BTW, I am guessing the surprise is the new background - quite nice.

One must know that :
- on devices with only an internal card or an external card, the root directory is /mnt/sdcard
- on devices with an internal disk and an external card, the root directory on the internal disk is /mnt/movinand and the root on the external card is /mnt/sdcard
No comment...
As Tripmaster has got some /mnt/sdcard path hard-coded for some datas, it means that it must be installed only on the external card on devices having two memory spaces.
I have just tried the link given and it works OK just for confirmation the link is here then click on the download version 2.3 link. _________________ Malcolm

To upgrade, do I just overwrite all existing files with the new versions?
Yes, follow the procedure given on my site. You won't loose your configuration file, don't worry and you'll get 8 bits background screens that will load much faster than 24 bits previous one.
I have the screen working now, not sure what I did but it works. I have changed it to save them as INT files. I have changed the confirg files as follows, But it makes too many waypoints which parameters should I change
I want to use this to record my bike trips and share the routes as tomtom ITN files

Hello exportman,
Did Tripmaster work for you w/ Rider app 7.54? I have no menu icon with 7.54, if it worked for you then I have another problem, aka operator error.
App 7.901 is rumored to cause problems but I'd risk it to get my Tripmaster back.
Thanks in advance- notsoslo
