I have a problem with my Nuvi 550 where if I choose any vehicle icon other than the default, when I next switch the unit back on it changes the icon back to the default vehicle. All the other settings are remembered, it just forgets the vehicle icon.
Has anyone had a similar problem with the 550 or any other Nuvi? I've tried re-sets, upgrading to the latest firmware, selecting different vehicle icons in case there is one it doesn't like, but no luck, it always reverts back to the default vehicle whenever it is switched on.
Cheers,

What happens if you delete all the vehicles in the Garmin/vehicle folder on the Nuvi (plugged into PC, open nuvi drive in explorer) except the one you want? _________________ Mark B

Good idea, didn't think of that
I went and erased them all out of curiosity (backed them up first) and switched on - Garmin substitutes a flat blue triangle as the vehicle icon even if there are none in the vehicle folder, it must keep that one hidden in system files.
Started loading my favourite icons one by one to see if there was a 'bad' one that was causing the problem. I now have only eight in there at the moment and - touch wood - the selected ones stay chosen after shut down / start up. (The 550 is odd in that it has 5 selectable profiles that each retain different settings, I have a different vehicle icon for each profile) I'll monitor it for a while and see how it gets on.
