|
|
Hi all,
does anybody happen to know whether any new features such as being able to prepare a route, or add more than 1 via point will be available on the new TT1 IQ route models, or is it exactly the same just with IQ routes and ALG?
What do people think of IQ routes, as I do often have to change my route from the TT1 v4 that I have fastest route, as it turns out not to be!
I do know that there are more contries on the new models, but do IQ routes work in all of them?
Also there is no mention of GPS quickfix on TTs website, but does anyone know if this will still be used on these new models.
Now back to perswading the Mrs that we need a new TT!
Thanks for your help

When you say "prepare a route" do you mean the "Prepare route" which used to be called "A-B advance planning" - which I think is on all TomToms?
Or do you mean "Itinerary Planning" - the multi-stop routes which were left off the One models?
If it is itineraries, then they seem to be back on the new 'XL IQ Routes' version at least (I haven't seen the 'ONE IQ Routes' model).
I think IQ Routes work quite well, although there will always be some funnies with routes ocassionally. I'm not 100% sure, but I think IQ Routes work in all the countries.
GPSQuickfix is still available for these models. |

I thought it was due to be on the 'XL IQ Routes Edition'. Whether TT have removed it again on the final release or whether it is on the ordinary 'ONE IQ Routes Edition' I don't know...

This Thread from a USA based forum confirms the device does have Itinerary Planning as an option, note the device name in the USA for the device is the One 140 - Mike |

Thanks - I had come across that but I did wonder whether TT have different features on the 'same' model? I do hope it does as it would be so useful for me.
I supose TT customer service are not world renowned for thier effieciency! |

There are a few differences as you can get the device with Text To Speech in the USA but thats not an option for us Europeans, I think the dumbing down of certain functionality as was done on the One Third Edition was a rather stupid decision. The One product range is confusing enough with over ten different models without dropping basic functions from certain models - Mike |

Are you sure? This feature USED to be called "A-B Advance Planning" but on recent models and software it is called "Prepare Route" with an icon showing two signposts with an A and B on them.
I don't have a 'ONE IQ Routes Edition' in front of me but AFAIK every model so far has had Advance Planning/Prepare Route. This is what the old and the new icons look like:

I said I would post my reply from TT Customer support. I have reversed the order so you read from the top to the bottom of the page! Here it is...

This is not the case according to the manual for the XL IQ routes edition that can be downloaded at http://download.tomtom.com/open/manuals/xl40/refman/TomTom-ONEv5-XLv2-en-GB.pdf
I would be interested in the Europe edition (42 countries if this is the case)
Customer (Timothy Frost) 29/04/2009 03.37 PM
Does the UK release model of the One and XL IQ have the itinery planning as the manual on the website says?
Response (Suzanne T. (UK)) 04/05/2009 11.45 AM
Dear Mr. Frost,
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Care
The reference number for your query is xxxxxx.
