What a great Idea.
Should be compulsory in every repmobile. |

That has to be my NUMBER ONE hate!
(for some reason it seems even worse than the arrogant prats who do it in the outside lane) |

'Lane Assist' - presumably what we have been calling 'alg' and TT calls 'lane guidance' in status bar preferences - only works if the status bar is horizontal.
However, if you are using a vertical status bar and have 'lane images' enabled - 'show lane images' in 'change preferences' - then when a lane image appears, the status bar switches to horizontal and shows the graphic for alg. The graphic is not shown unless there is a lane image for the junction. _________________ Alan

Pleased to see that you were keeping within the speed limit Paul! |

I've just switched to Horoizontal status bar because the speed readout is larger (good in Mainland Europe) and ALG works in both.
As for middle lane hoggers, you want to try it when you're towing a trailer and you CAN'T go in the outside lane! It would seem that the front grill of a Motorhome in their back window still doesn't reinforce the point. Maybe I'll lose the Hymer grill and get one with 'MOVE OVER' on it instead. _________________ Tom Tom GO 720

Hey Dennis.
Yeah but we all know that middle lane hoggers do 10mph UNDER that limit then get irritated when you undertake them to maintain momentum.
I think driving a 7.5 tonner for a day should be part of the licence. If you understand what it's like to drive something that has distinctly different characteristics to a car you soon learn to cut them some slack for stuff they previously would shake heads at.
Anyway my last comment on this one as I'm dragging this thread way off topic. _________________ Tom Tom GO 720

Very rarely, in my experience.
I've just come back from an 800 mile round trip on the continent and didn't see it once on my 740 LIVE. I've seen it twice in the UK. Much ado about nothing, IMO. |

Oops! I didn't see the cock-up! !
I thought you were referring to the lane display pics in general — I rarely if ever see these. So few junctions have them. |

tortoise wrote: | Thanks for that. So which is the most basic tom tom with advanced lane guidance please. Is it the 520. As dont need bluetooth hard drive etc. |
Works for me matey....I have the 520 and the Guidance was used on the M8 Glasgow to good effect recently.
The device is about £120 now if you look around, Currys supplied mine at £129.99. It was sold as End of stock, I've just upgraded from my Navman iCN610 after 4 Years, as there are no more maps for Navman. Not sure that TT520 will have that problem, and after a full update here, its as good as the TT530 so check their prices, then get a 520
the TT520 has Bluetooth should you need it for hands free voice, and on the Music edition that I have, an FM transmitter to play your MP3's `Through` the cars audio system `wireless` _________________ Device:TOMTOM START 52 & SNOOPER 3ZERO

Didn't realise that the lane images (full screen) and the lane guidance (in status bar) were separately configurable. Now changed on my TT. Thanks for that!
There are a lot of the full screen displays in the A34/M3/M27 corridors, but not enough to be able to depend on them, and a few that are just plain silly - normal motorway exits. But personally I find the full screen displays, at least on the latest release (post-stutter fix) can take long enough to clear that it's a hindrance. E.g. I'm wanting to see the next junction - particularly the next roundabout on the that motorway exit, or in the case of 2 lanes exiting to see which of those 2 I should best pick for the next intersection, enough to want the lane display switched off for good. The status bar will be enough info I think.
I guess it has gee-whizz factor, but I want TT to use not sell ;-) _________________ Go Premium X / Go 1005 |

Just tap the display and it will disappear if you want to see the normal display earlier. I find it a nice addition, but you can get rid of it any time with a tap if it is getting in the way. |
