I want to record my walk .
So I tick "create new route " and off I go .The satmap lays down a trail (track?) for a few minutes and the stops for no apparent reason .What do I do to stop this happening ?
Then when I get home ,as in drive 30-40 miles , for example ,and then turn on the Satmap ,it's laid a straightline from the last bit of the trail it recorded to where my house is .
Please help ! |

Welcome to the forum, it sounds like you have the device set to auto power off rather than just save power by turning the screen off, try the following:
Settings/ Power Control "Automatic Power Saving" set to Always On
Settings/ Pwer Control "Automatic Screen Turn Off" set to Off after 30 seconds (or whatever value you feel happy with)

I think Mike has given you the answer but I'm curious as to why/how you tick "create new route". You normally start logging by pressing start on the Trip log page, has this changed with the new version? |

.... | Should have read your post fully before replying. Further to previous reply you must press "Start" initially and "Stop" when you finish your route otherwise when you restart the Satmap it will just continue logging points and draw a straight line to where you are now. |

Thanks for the help ,yes I had power off selected and I hadn't been pressing start /stop on trip menu .
So ,after you've done the walk ,press stop and then press convert trail to track and name it I presume ?
One other thing can you get the pointer to always head up the screen ,or is it best just to turn the unit around ? |

The device supports both North up or Heading up (which is what you want), the heading up mode can only be selected when settings/ Advanced power control is set to normal, by default this will be set to Advanced to conserve power. You won't notice much difference in battery duration with this in normal use - I use mine in Heading up mode all the time - Mike |
