First, be sure to register it. A new mapset was released recently and you're entitled to it at no charge in the first 60 days of ownership. Other than that you should be good to go. Keep in mind that Switzerland will impound your GPS if speed camera files are found on it, so if you are using them, remove the file(s) before going.
When you land in the various cities, try to give your nuvi a bit of time to figure out where it is before driving off, especially if you plan to use it immediately. Any time you turn your device off in one city, then start it up again hundreds of miles from your last known location, it can take awhile to get a sat lock. _________________ Garmin 1695 / 255 / 760 w/MSN - Droid w/Google nav + Navigon - Navigon 8100T - Dakota10 - GPSMap76C - GeoMate Jr. |

Thank for that, who would have known.
Is it possible to keep the speed camera files on a SD card so as to remove it quickly? _________________ Nuvi 265wt (from next week)

Yes, on my 255WT I have the PGPSW speed camera files on an SD card. The SD card didn't come with the device, so I had to buy one (together with a card reader to load in the files).
Don't know if you're expected by the Swiss to actually remove the Garmin poi file from its internal memory, or simply to have the Garmin warnings turned off.

Kind of a grey area.
On a different note, I have read that for the speed camera to load it into the POI I need to select MPH or KmH
How to do it to combine say UK and France speed camera?

There is a Sticky Thread at the top of the Garmin PND Forum here with full instructions on how to load both the MPH and KPH database. |
