Google have launched their 3D Virtual Map, StreetView in the UK.
Despite the protests from privacy campaigners the service is now available via Google Maps with coverage of many major cities including London, Oxford, Birmingham, Cardiff and Scunthorpe (eh?).
The service allows you to see streets in a virtual 3D environment, pan around 360 degrees and travel along the roads.
To access Street View, fire up Google Maps and drag the street view 'man' icon onto a street. Areas covered by StreetView images will be shown outlined in blue.

I doubt I'll be shown now as the car was on the other side of the road when it passed me with the cameras up.
There's lots of gaps so I guess it will get filled in and joined up in time.
Now, did anyone have a car follow them when you had a PGPSW sticker in the window? _________________ Gerry

Street View captures traditional British Christmas:
Shoreditch, antlers and vomit
I'm sure there will be many more! |

Well, they've already deleted one view.
Go with me on this... you have a choice - left for New St station, right for "All other traffic" and straight on for "No motor vehicles except for buses, taxis, cycles and access to off street premises". Guess where they decided to go.
Smallbrook Queensway, Birmingham. Look north and read the sign. The next photo is missing and you have to "drag" the man across the junction as it isn't linked up. _________________ Gerry

The Register have been tracking them since last year, and their map gives a good idea. |

Well, I've found myself on it! Go to 52.39637, -1.78614 and I'm driving the red A3 past the end of the junction. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |
