I also have this problems and regularly have to pull over and exit, restart, exit restart, disconnect power, reconnect power, softreset x3 etc etc until the damn thing works again
I cannot find a cure at all. Anyone else close to a solution yet?! |

The problem seems to be with the TT3 software as I had no issues at all with TT2 and I am still using the same GPS, PSU, etc.
On the Axim X3, TT3 starts ok but after what appears to be a random time, the application just locks up and a soft reboot is the only way out. This then works fine for another short period of time. Loading back TT2 everything works continuously just fine.
On the 16th June, I logged an e-mail with TomTom over this issue but so far it just has a status 'unresolved'.
Should I send another e-mail to TomTom with a link to this page? |

the processor on the x3 can be scaled down to conserve power maybe that could be you problem but still think its a sd card prob
it might be an idea to check the processor speed incase its been scales back by initiating the power save fetures _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. Good bye IOS don't let the door hit you on the way out .

OK, I'm using a Toshiba E750 Bluetooth model with the TomTom bluetooth GPS and TomTom Navigator 3.02 software, I did a complete cold reset and formated both SD cards I own, then did a fresh Install to the PDA and onto the cards.
I am in the UK and travel all over it since I am a service engineer, but my home location is Wolverhampton.
Current maps are on an Integral 256MB SD card. |

I have received the following response to an email sent to TomTom Support. I have not yet tried the suggested fix.
________________
TomTom Support Response received 29.06.04:
I Would suggest that you download and install the latest update 3.03
If you have Traffic installed DO NOT INSTALL this, instead install the 3.04T
www.tomtom.com Support/FAQs Update June 2004 - TomTom Navigator 3.03 - Pocket PC
Perform a soft reset of the PDA.Go to Start/Settings REMOVE PROGRAMS and REMOVE the TOMTOM GPS'
then make another soft reset and install the 3.03
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team

Original email to TomTom Support:
Hi Folks,
I purchased TomTom2 January last and a Dell Axim X3 and Haicom 420S. All has worked perfectly until I upgraded TomTom to version 3.
Although the system works, the Axim pocket pc locks up after about an hour of running TomTom3. I can only reset the device to get it to work again.
If I put back TomTom2, everything works fine again with no problems.
I have checked your FAQs and this does not appear to be a regular issue. Any suggestions please?
Many thanks |

Had the same problem with my 3970 and also a 3950. Solved the problem by installing GPS driver 2.08 and since then I haven't had one screen freeze. The Ipaqs run pocket pc 2002.
Hope this helps

Since upgrading to TT3.03 and TT GPS3.03 I now have screen freeze after about 30 minutes with my Navman BT and XDAII (drawing in-car power), making in-car satnav virtually impossible. I have a 512MB Japanese SD card which seems to work faultlessly.
Has any one else experienced a similar problem or can offer a solution?
Thanks in anticipation,
Phil |

Thanks Matt
I'm using an iPAQ 3850 running Pocket PC 2002 with TT3 which I upgraded from TT2 just before going away on holiday. It was an absolute pain with the screen freezing. Updated to 3.03 when I got home, but still the problem was there. On your suggestion have installed the 2.07 GPS driver, which I found on this site, and so far so good, no more screen freezes.
Thanks again.
