you should be able to click on the map in the lmg page for more info _________________ _________________________

Thanks. New to TT so i'll see what comes up now...
ETA: 815 was offered so i'll wait until next week to see if 825 comes up. Should i be concerned that it had £79.95 next to it? |

The map downloading page I had for my new W&CE 825 map (via prepaid Map Update Service) had a countdown bar (which incidentally took over two hours to download) AND significantly has an ABORT button. I can't say what happens when you hit the abort button, cos' we're talking TomTom here!! _________________ Dennis

To correct an earlier post of mine referencing $130 US for the update, TomTom is offering it at $90. That must be our subscription. _________________ Garmin 1695 / 255 / 760 w/MSN - Droid w/Google nav + Navigon - Navigon 8100T - Dakota10 - GPSMap76C - GeoMate Jr. |

just had the email
Dear Mr lenthall,
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support
The Latest Map Guarantee Code is used to ensure that you have the latest map installed on your device. It entitles you to a free download of the latest Map within 30 days from the date of purchase. This will offer you the latest map available to you at the date of purchase, in this case the v8.15 map.
With Best Regards

That is not how I interpret this to mean from https://www.tomtom.com/latestmap/
Latest map guarantee from TomTom
When you buy a brand new TomTom device, there’s a small chance that a newer map has been released since your device was manufactured.
We want to ensure that you start driving with the absolute latest map. So if a newer version of your map is available within 30 days of first using your device, you can download it for free(1x) at TomTom HOME!
That’s our latest map guarantee.

Latest Map Guarantee has been notoriously flakey just when a new map is released. If you can afford to do so - your purchase is, say, only 14 days ago - I would suggest you hold back for a week then try it again. Make sure you also have the latest application installed. If it fails then, get onto TomTom saying you know there's a 825 map and LMG is only offering you 815 - people HAVE succeeded with this in the past. Anybody with GO 9xx should also be pushing for both Europe and North America maps under LMG. It all takes persistence, those who have tried hard enough have mostly succeeded. _________________ Dennis

Sorry for veering slightly off-topic, but I have a 520 with the latest maps and firmware, and a subscription to update maps for a year. Would I be correct in assuming that before downloading the new map release, and to ensure that I keep my favourites/settings, all I need to do is copy the current .cfg file onto my desktop, download the new maps, and then copy the .cfg file back in to map folder? |

I can confirm that I had this exact situation when I purchased my original 720 last year. It took me about 2 weeks of pushing before TT eventually caved in but I did get a 2nd map within the 30 day period.

that's what I did earlier today and it worked fine for me. The only difference was I made a complete back up of my TT before downloading the maps and then I went in afterwards, found the .cfg file and copied it across. |

just downoladed the new maps and guess what, no favourites. I had saved my old ones from 815, and copied them across, only for my 720 to go into an eternal boot loop. |
