Hi
I've tried to browse to see if i can find a similar issue but i haven't so here goes. I used to have a rikaline x7 which was fine apart from the fact that it went haywire for a few seconds once in a while when it lost the satellite fix. I changed to a Fortuna clipon and it seemed fine as first but now once I connect my ipaq 2210 to the gps unit, it starts working o.k for about 3-5 minutes and then it looses the connection to the ipaq and the ipaq asks me again to select the bluetooth device. I can't get it to stay connected\navigate for more than 5 minutes at a time. considering it was o.k for about 2 weeks, can I assume that the gps unit is faulty. I have tried all the different settings suggested for the device on this site that I have seen. any help appreciated. thanks |

I had a similar problem with my GPSSmart - the cause was twofold:
1 - Run the HP2210 Bluetooth update patch
2 - If using TomTom Navigator get the latest patches from TomTom, delete the pairing and then add it again. Should then be OK.

I use tom tom 3.01 I have deleted the tomtom gps drivers as advised elsewhere and as far as I'm aware the bluetooth update is included in the Rom update for ipaq 2210's. I am running rom version 1.10. I have also tried to run the bluetooth update and tried it with that still no luck. any more ideas pls? |

Once you've installed the TomTom Updates, delete the bluetooth pairing with your device and then re-establish it. |

Got it working now. I do have my maps on an sd card but it was never a problem before. I uninstalled the tomtom software from the ipaq and then reinstalled but didn't apply the 3.01 update because I kind of remebered that I didn't have it installed the first time and it has been o.k since then, so I am a very happy bunny and I have had much better navigation with the Fortuna over the Rikaline, none of the problems with the navigation going haywire for about 10 secs and giving all sorts of varied instructions when it drops to about 3 satellites that I had with the Rikaline (they are definitely geared for walking and not driving) the Fortuna tracks me correctly even in the middle of the City with all the tall buildings. and even when it gets right down to 3 or sometimes even 2 satellites. thanks for all the help and advice. |
