Do you get IQ2 routing (TIME of day, not just day of week) implemented with your combination of map/firmware?

No. As far as I know the ALG/IQR information is not included in the 8.15.2024 map at all. I also own a 920T and had to install 8.15.2003 to get ALG/IQR support working, because in that map the info is included.

I think we are all talking at cross purposes here.

The x20 range NEED v8.3 navcore to run v8.15 maps and above
The ONE range, i believe, need 8.010 or above for the v8.15 maps

Just like the x10 range who DON'T have version 8 navcore have had a special v7.9 version of navcore so they can use the latest maps.

I am only sure of the x20 range requirements. The others are facts i believe are true!

All correct! I'm in the clear again. Sorry for mis-interpreting and drifting off.

AFAIK that's correct. The XL/x10's don't/can't use the IQRouting

I email TT support asking how I can revert to an earlier application as the current 8.301 does not solve the lag and stuttering issues below is their reply.

Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support
Your reference for your query is 090212-010168.

We do not recommend reverting to a previous application. Also the version 8.301 was designed to resolve the issue with the stuttering voices.

With Best Regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team

Well at www.tomtom.com/6141, TT says

And that is all!!!!!

Mike's fix has worked a treat for me - thanks Mike.

I'll stick with 8.3 until such time as TomTom release Navcore with a fix in it - if ever.

Check this out guys.
I just got this E-mail from TomTom support about update v8.301

Discussion Thread
Response 02/13/2009 05:02 PM
Dear customer,

Thanks for the e-mail. This update did not fix the issues with the voices or the FM transmitter issue.
Again, we do not have a time frame to offer you on when another update will be released. This current update is not a full update, it was mainly for our Australian customers who were having map share issues.
It does not affect the US customers.

For a temporary fix, it is possible to back track. This can be done two ways. The first is if you did a back up prior to the 8.3 application release, then you could possibly restore this back up for a temporary fix.

The other option is that we can offer you a older application that you can manually install onto your unit. The only other issue is that we would have to offer you an older map to use for the time being as the 8.15 map will not work with an application less than 8.3. Please do let me know if this is something you are interested in.

With Kind Regards,
Customer 02/13/2009 03:30 PM
I would like to know if the update that we just got ( v8.301 ),is suppose to fix the problems.
I did the upgrade and it is the same.
Or are we getting another update soon?

As far as I'm concerned, the original product was ABSOLUTELY FINE.
It's the recent software that is at fault.

If I could go back to its original configuration I would be happy. I can quite happily live without the gimmicky "advanced lane guidance" etc. I just want it to work as smoothly as it used to.

BUT... I do want to use new maps, so I have to use this flawed software.

Old models that can't use v8 software now have a version of v7 software that allows them to use v8 maps. But if you have a machine that is *supposed* to be able to use v8 you've got no choice.

Shall we start a campaign for "Back to v7" for x20/x30 users?

Nooooooo!

Navcore 7 had the major bug that RDS-TMC never worked - the delay info was either 1 minute or some stupid number like 160 minutes.

Shame they can't just fix 8.010 to run with IQ2 and 8.15 maps then I would be happy.

Hi, I'm new to this forum but have been following it since Jan09 when my 720 started stuttering with Ver8.300. I managed to go back to 8.010. I guess I'm lucky because I live in New Zealand and although the map I use is 815 NZ it works fine with 8.010. We don't have IQ etc. Interestingly I have an 8.15 Australia map which 8.010 can't see.
Oh and I can also use Tripmaster which stops working at 8.2nn

Also I can confirm that 8.301 did not stop stuttering.

How's this for a classic TomTom support fix. I have not heard this one before!

Quote:
Thanks for your update

Yes the device should be able to handle it and I am just back from discussing this ( at some length ) with our second line team

As the processor is running more or less flat-out they think that this could be related to battery voltage

They suggest trying the following ;

Please fully charge the device on the home charger and then take it to the car and connect it to the CLA in the car and then see if you still get the stutter and GPS lag

We do most genuinely appreciate your patience and co-operation and please rest assured we do want to be able to find a solution for you .

Your feedback will be appreciated

I will try what they suggest, but I am not sure how it helps. I experience the stuttering and GPS lag at almost random times. Rarely have I seen it as soon as I 1st connect the device, or perhaps that is the solution - take a mains charger with you Rolling Eyes

Everything works as normal, the FM Transmitter for navigation voices won't work but that is intentional due to EU law.

Updating the TTS voices from what are currently on the devices to the new ones is all part of the process to reduce stammer, Map refresh issues etc.

If you follow the "how to" on page 28 it will work - deviate from the order each step takes and there is a chance it won't unless you know and understand what is going on when you update software manually.

I got fed up with 8,300 around Christmas so started playing around with this, once the 8,301 was released I tried it for a few days and noticed it was no better than the 8,300 it superseded, so I have gone back to 8,320 on the devices and they are useable again - Mike

Get your friend to send an e.mail to TomTom explaining what happened.
They will ask for details from his 710 and probably for the receipt also, after that, if everything is OK, they will let him have his update. Wink
