No, close though. That's about all we can say as discussion of the Beta is not permitted so please don't ask _________________ Darren Griffin |

Just upgraded my Go 930 and it reports
App 8.301 (9736/090114) OS:244890
GPS v1.20 Boot 5.5015
WE map v815.2003
I’ve tried it in demo mode and it stutters as before. It manages three or four words cleanly and then the rest is distorted.
I’m hoping it will perform better tomorrow on the open road.

I'm getting this problem as well. I've tried resetting my 720 and rebooting my PC (Vista Ultimate) but that didn't clear the problem.

Point taken.
Was just trying to find out if any problems that may have been hinted at that did exist in the beta stood a chance of being fixed in the public release. As the build numbers are different then maybe any problems that may still have existed in the beta may have been fixed.
Only time will tell.......
I have taken the plunge and will give it a good run tomorrow with TTS6 voices only to see if the stutter and map lag have gone.
If the build number was the same as the beta I would have let others be public beta testers this time round!

There's a report that the ONLY fix in 8.301 is for Australian 9x units where EPT was not working.
Oh, the emulator is broken is 8.301. _________________ David |

The Home emulator is ALWAYS broken when they first release a new app version and the link to the TT page for information on changes in this version doesn't get you anything - they still haven't put it into that page. As for fixing EPT, they needn't bother - it appears to work on my 920, but it performs worse than my other devices which don't have it.
Maybe all will be clear when they release the new maps tomorrow? _________________ Dennis

A member of a NA forum reports that the 'upgrade' completely removed his tthome.bif file. Now, that's the one that contains the email address of your account at TT.
Mind you, never checked, it could be a file created dynamically when you log in. _________________ David |

I'd have to kill you if I told you the release number, but suffice to say the figures 9, 7, and 3 were involved .
Mr T, I'm afraid you will now *definitely* have a contract out on you....
It could be wishful thinking but 9736 SEEMS to be a quite bit "snappier" at switching between menu pages.
Looking forward to a trip out tomorrow.... |

Hey! Sounds awesome! I'm doing backflips with the prospect of this release! When will home let me download it? Gimme gimme gimme!............
OK I'm being sarcastic. I tried to tell myself to keep my big mouth shut before I get a reputation (too late?) but I can't help myself. I wonder how many pages we'll get to before something quantifiably positive pops in here? 2 pages in and it looks like a stopgap and not the release many of us stutterers have waited and hoped for.
On current form from Tom Tom, someone probably copied the last installer .exe and renamed it. Build? Don't set foot near my new extension Tom Tom!.
The cynic in me suggests that it's a clever ploy to take the strain of the other legendary thread 'Voice problem after 8.3....' thread which was no doubt a surce of embarassment.
Still, what would I do with my time if I couldn't post endlessly here! :-) _________________ Tom Tom GO 720

That's odd... A forum search for "8.301" returns 312 matches just in the TomTom section with the top five being today's topics.... |

Somehow I doubt it!
My first impressions on the way to work this morning are:
Map refresh lag is still there
Kate stuttering is just as bad as before (using TTS6)
So, the two major issues with 8.300 are still preset in 8.301
Well done TT - 3 months later and no further forward with this - anyone up for organising a mass petition to Watchdog or similar?
