I hope after this long wait it is going to be significantly better than "the hug". Not that there is anything wrong with "the hug"; it's a great free on line planner. |

One thing i would hope to see, and would be a definate improvement if included, would be the ability to download the routes as .map files rather than gpx. but perhaps that's too much too ask.
Cheers

Not sure why your doing this as Google finds it fine. And they have had an under contruction page up there when they didn't want people to use it.
I think you are being a bit too cautious here.
First request from me is that they allow the 10 digit serial number to be remembered by IE or let us choose our own password, as typing in these 10 digits each time is too much of a pain.

I give up - I did state the reasons why it shouldn't be linked to etc - if this sort of action results in longer delays to the applications release then that’s something you will have to live with - Don't be too surprised if what you have found disappears either in the interim period prior to release - Mike |

I think you are being silly.
There are a million an one ways of pushing software out to beta testers without making it public. If something is in the public domain i.e. on the WWW we should be able to talk about it.
Don't try to patronise people.
I'll now give up, it's your site your run it as you think fit. |

I don't know if Satmap will see general, wholsale use of the pre release beta version as a violation, or whether it will cause them prpblems with OS. We have been told that the OS license has been the cause of the long delay. OS may well call the tune on this.
The thing to remember is that using the beta version is not anonymous. Any perceived abuse could theoretically result in particular serial numbers being denied access.
I personally prefer to wait. |

Just a brief post to support Mike in his attempts to keep order. SatMap are trying to get out the software and were quite clear that they wanted comments in a controlled environment. Why could that not have been respected for a short time? _________________ LostMike

I'd like to add support to Mike too. Just makes sense to wait for the real thing rather than sneak a peek before it's ready. |

And what do you do if the beta screws up your system? _________________ David

I didn't even know it wasn't supposed to be used as I went straight to the route planner url which I had on my favourites. I only found out when my posts to the forum disappeared.
Hence I have used it (by accident!) and it looks great - utilising the msn live search maps software but with os maps as well. I set up a route and exported to the satmap with no probs.
Now I know it's not meant to be there I shall wait until we're told it's live.

I would also like to express support for Mike.
If Satmap ask for it not to be posted we should respect that. Simple. |
