Now that's a good idea, I usually have to minimise iGO, turn down the brightness, and then maximise iGO to achieve that.
linknet | That's strange. I have an option where I can set the brightness for the daylight map separate from the nighttime map. When iGO switches to the nightmap, it dims automatically. |

Very good one A checkbox to stop iGO from displaying unnecessary exit's you have to pass would be even better, but these extra red backgrounds make it clear enough already. |

So, only show the exit you intend to take, what about lane information where a motorway divides into two, or lane information at junctions where you are still going straight on but need to be in the correct lane ?
It would be impossible to distinguish between what is necessary and what isn't.

Some devices support that, if they do then you get the option, some like mine don't and need some other solution.

linknet | Hmmm, yeah, good point. But when I'm driving on a motorway and pass an exit, then iGO shows me the signs which are irrelevatant but doesn't tell me to "keep left". Maybe it is possible to combine this?
I do remember that the lane info was also shown in 8.0 in this situation.
Well, OK, if hard or impossible to implement, then lets forget about it. Maybe the option to adjust the size? Just as lane info? |

linknet wrote: | Yes, the original design is clean and clear but very difficult to distinguish between the lanes, all they use is dimming of the panel and lane arrows which are not on the route.
The problem is, as shown by my example on the website, that a highlighted panel can also contain dimmed arrows. These are impossible to differentiate in sunlight, and extremely difficult in daylight.
It needed a solution, if you can think of a better one I'll have a look at it.

I agree with you linknet that your modification makes it clearer. It's just so ugly too ..Your solution seems technically neat, I just wish you didn't have to include the ugly box surround.
What I was wondering, as I'm such a fan of the skin, is if you could include an option, like with the lane arrow colourings in v5.x, to use the original as well. I realise this might be a lot of work to include in the menu's.
I still like the old notification arrows. It seems the two systems compete, the new signposts pushing the old style arrows off the screen when they appear. I really like the signposts. I wish both systems would stay on screen together. Maybe it'd get a little crowded

Second the request for dimming with a coour filter. It's the one thing I missed testing last night. The night scheme is so much brighter than a car dashboard lights. Thrilled that you're interested in implementing this linknet. |

Dimming should be integrated by NavNGo directly into the iGO software. But obviously the programmers have no clue how to do it for the most devices.
Because for some devices this option is already integrated. Additional sliders are provided to adjust the brightness of the display for day and night. When the night scheme is used also the brightness is adjusted to the set values.

If you really don't like the coloured lane signpost backgrounds then just delete or rename the following two files in the skin:
ui_igo8\240_320\ui\laneinfo_signpost.ini
ui_igo8\320_240\ui\laneinfo_signpost.ini
That should fix it.

Ah thank you! I'll add that to my minor tweaks
Quote: |
Start with map screen:
edit ui_igo8\common\ui\start.ui and modify
else_run 'run sc_GoToStartState'
to read
else_run 'STATE st_NavigateMap'
|
Heresy I tell you! Soon I'll be starting up my own branch!
Thanks linknet |

Maybe it would be an idea to supress road signs that only have red arrows?
But now a new question: I used to have a very handy "Home" button in the bottom bar of the search screen. In 6.0.3 (and 2&1), this button is gone. Or do I have to do anything to activate it?
Another question: Today, iGO gives a summary map of the calculated route and you have to switch to navigation by hand (left bottom button). Is there a way to avoid this, or switch to navigation after a time? |

Gone forever I'm afraid.

Change the "Find Map Mode" as documented on the website.

|

Dear linknet,
Are there any chances to get a support for WVGA (480x800, 800x400) resolutions in Ultra skin in foreseeable future?
I can donate some $
Thanks! |
