I have just changed form an old Garmin to a Tom Tom 520 . .
Having successfully downloaded & copied the new files to the corect folder on the Tom Tom I noticed that there seems to be a "TomTom safety camera file in there too.
Should this be removed - to avoid getting duplicate warnings form old & new files. If so - could someone tell me if there are also sup[porting files that should also be removed
Secondly can anyone explain how to access the "Compass" display options on this model
Many Thanks. |

Yuo can just switch off the alerts for the TT camera database. It's done in the "Plus Services " menu.
If you want to delete the files, there is a set of instructions in the "FAQs" at the top of this forum section (it's #13).
What sort of compass you get depends on what software you are running. TomTom have removed the main compass feature in recent software (version 8)
For details of what you get, and how to access it see HERE |

Thank you __ Andy_P __ for your very quick response to my question.
I didn't want to delete a file & cause a problem with the unit not working properly!
On my first road test this morning the PGPS alerts sounded with the expected sounds I had chosen along with another "useless" Bong as I had just passed the camera in question.!!
as for the compass - I have found an option to display it, but the extra display choices ( as described in the pdf file ) seem to to be missing.
I will follow your advice and see what I can find out
Thanks again. |

I'm not sure what sound alerts you have configured but pay a visit to the link in my signature for some real voice options if you don't have them as well as custom cursors, icons etc _________________ Darren Griffin |
