Ok currently charging then I plan to:
1. Back Up using Window Explorer.
2. Upgrade to 8.3XXX, I understand there are a few problems with this. I have read through the post and getting myself confused what is the best way to get round this.
3. Back Up again.
4. Download the latest maps using LMG.
5. Back Up again.
Is there anything I have missed other than subscribe to Speed Camera Database and download that and follow the instructions on the site, and of course Back Up after I have done that as well. Can I get hold of Speed Camera voices as well? The bells etc will put me off......
Cheers

Basically you've got it covered!
Lots of backups - but they are pretty quick.
For voices have a look here This should get you going.
The trick is to download the correct files - and this depends on which camera downloads you choose.
I've gone for the consolidated (i.e. Mobile, Gatsco...) by type along with the Liz Whittaker voices. I did this because I didn't want to go and set up several 10's of POI warnings! I know you only do them once but.....
Anyway - best of luck with your 720 - I'm still getting used to mine. _________________ Phil |

Once you've done a few manual backups and got the idea of what you're doing and why, you might decide that you can get away with PARTIAL backups (i.e. just the map folder if you buy a new map, just the system files etc.) but for the first few, it's probably wise to do it all.
Personally, I would opt for the speed-zoned database. To me, the voice alerts are there to avoid having to look down at the TomTom screen, so I don't see a lot of point in using them unless they are going to tell me the speed limit. |
