|
|
Hi,
I have a TT GO 500 and looking to buy USA and Canada maps. I can download version 8.15 from the Tom Tom shop for £40. Is this the best deal and how up to date are the v8.15 maps?.
Thanks

You won't find the maps for sale anywhere else so I guess the £40 is a good deal (its £10 discounted at the moment).
As for the age of the v815 mapping it was released in November IIRC so its as up todate as you can have today.
You might need to consider a new larger SD card for your device to get the new map to fit, but these don't cost much - Mike |

Mike, thanks for that.
When I bought a new SD card a few years ago it didn't work. Is there a list of SD cards that work (or don't work) with GO 500 units?. |

I am not aware of any list, but as long as you go for a decent speed card it should be OK, the TomTom will refuse to use some of the slower cards, something like a "Sandisk Extreme III" is fine with the TT devices and costs under £12 including delivery! (see Here ) - Mike |

You should probably get a 1GB or 2GB card (depending on the map offered for this device) and not go any larger as I don't know that these older devices will read anything larger than 2GB. Anyone? |

You are correct. The maximum card size for GO 500 is 2 Gb. |

Not true....
You can use cards up to 4GB in a Go 500, but they must be "normal" SD cards, NOT the SDHC ('SD high capacity') type.
There aren't many 4GB non-SDHC cards around. Two companies who certainly used to make them are "Transcend" and "Topram". |
