I think that you will find that without the full Europe maps you can only route to major towns and cities via main roads which are all that are shown on the base map.
With the Europe maps inserted you can also navigate to small towns and villages and of course there are all the europe POIs as well.
A couple of tips which you might already have done
1. It is worth backing up all the nuvi files to your hard drive so that at least you can restore if something goes wrong. Do edit-copy then edit-paste.
2. If you are copying to an sd card it is much quicker with a card reader than using the nuvi.

Thanks for clarifying Chris, I will back up my files and drop the other european maps on an SD card. |

Something I wanted to mention. It seems Garmin has added the ability to use multiple vias to force routing the way you prefer to travel. While it's not true multi-stop routing (itineraries in TomTom speak), it does allow you to use multiple vias, unlike previous entry-level Garmins, giving you the basic function of route building on the cheap. Had I not just verified it myself, I would have said it's not possible. But it is. Used 4 vias this morning to force a preferred drive thru downtown. _________________ Garmin 1695 / 255 / 760 w/MSN - Droid w/Google nav + Navigon - Navigon 8100T - Dakota10 - GPSMap76C - GeoMate Jr. |
