Dear All,
I dont think the /tmc is activated on my Kenwood DNX5220BT but when ever I go to the garmin site, it asks for 66$ for subscription. Is that right in the UK? |

I have the same unit with the same problem, I rang Garmin to try and get an unlock code. They asked me where I bought the unit (An audio shop in cardiff) and after some keyboard bashing they told me I wasn't entitled to a free subscription.
I got the impression that if I'd named the right shop it might have been free?
If you get any joy, let me know. I still haven't paid the subscription yet.

I bought my 765 from eBay and it had no traffic subscription. I exchanged a few emails back and forward with Garmin Support, they asked for serial numbers etc and then told me that my traffic receiver didn't have the free UK subscription and simply added it at no cost.
Interestingly, I used the 765 with the traffic receiver that came with my 760 and it worked perfectly. I always assumed that the traffic sub was within the GPS itself but it appears that it's contained within the receiver. |

The subscription is held is the TMC receiver.
the_big_1 - Do you know if you are in range of the TMC signal as i thought the subscriptions weren't activated until they'd had TMC signal for a minute or two. |

I drive almost the full length of the M6 and it never changed. When I click on the TMC part in the settings, it asks me to add a subscription? |

IIRC the Kenwood version of the GARMIN units don't have the pre-paid TMC subscription service. _________________ Phil |
