For various reasons I was in an LGV today that had a TT system fitted that was running what the dispatch clerk called TT "truck". It had the ability to tell the device the height, width, and weight of the vehicle.. you could also choose generic car, small truck, big truck, bus options if memory serves me ....
The routing then avoids towns, narrow roads, bridges etc etc optimising the route according to the vehicle type and dimensions.
Now as I often tow a fairly large caravan I would love to have this on my TT 700, but I can find no information about it anywhere.. anyone know anything about what I'm waffling about ???
Thanks in advance |

Hi mz500r
Now, that is interesting. Although I have no real need for Tomtom Truck I like to keep abreast with current events.
I will be even more interested in the comments that the lorry drivers make after using the programme in anger.
Yes, very interesting. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Thanks for the link mz .. but I don't want to Quote: | TomTom WORK is for all professional multi car users with a fleet from 10-50 cars. Companies with the need for tracking and tracing and day-to-day, hour-to-hour, minute-to-minute planning. | ... which is what the TT work seems to do ..
I'd just like the bit that allows you to enter vehicle details and optimise routes ... and it appears that is £119 EXTRA to the unwanted work bits ...

Pity they can't even spell December ... |

Quote: | The software has new routing algorithms, making it possible for truckers to avoid small town roads and narrow residential areas where possible. |
I've often wished for this. I can't see why it can't just have a "take the biggest roads as much as possible" algorithm. Cut the silly little bicycle track short-cuts, just stick to motorways and A roads as much as possible, using the local lanes only at the start and end, or when really necessary (which I imagine would be pretty much never). This would then work well for caravans too. |
