Just checked with the latest edition of Nokia Maps and Google Maps; neither show the bridge in question. I wonder if the local authority have neglected to tell anyone about it? |

Thanks for that, the City Council won't be happy it's not listed as the "Clyde Arc". |

Interesting, I tested the (no longer) Aldgate giratory on Google Maps, AA and now MS maps and none have the new layout, 3 months on...
The funny thing, is that if you set up a route in the AA site going through Whitechapel road, the written instructions tell you to go through it like a 2 way street (which is the way it now works, so that's good), but if you click on the map to view it, it shows the old layout and the old 1-way system!
I guess all these sites have their maps provided by the same 2 or 3 companies and those aren't doing their homework well enough... |

Maybe the map companies should employ someone on every street so they can phone in changes the second they happen?
Or maybe new map users should get the amount of data and the relative accuracy of maps into perspective? _________________ Drivelux |

Did that bridge pop up in the last few seconds or more than 2 years ago? Why don't you put that into a nice perspective for us? |

If I understand the Tele Atlas Podcast correctly the first map that will use TomTom Mapshare information or any other customer submitted corrections will only be released in early 2009.
So all the mapshare info we have submitted over the past year or so isn’t on the 8.15 map and hopefully in Jan or Feb we will get a completely revised map??
Check it out yourself have a listen to the PodCast especially episode (2)

I have used the latest map guarantee yesterday, btw, only to find out, to my disappointment, that this version of the map, which was released last month, still doesn't have the new layout of the Aldgate giratory, which was changed in September!
Don't know what you are complaining about - TT has had a main road through Stratford-upon-Avon as blocked for the last 10 years (at least).
Totally agree with you - the Garmin maps on my mobile phone are much better. I was also disappointed that the "new" maps had few improvements.
We cannot really blame TT of course as it is the map suppliers that are at fault. They would rather add gimmicks than provide accurate road and speed limit information. |

I wish they would let you make the change yourself on your device. No doubt terrified of getting sued when someone drives into the drink. |

Strange that I keep getting mapshare updates offered to me for download then, and when I connect to TT Home, it tells me how many are installed on my device......... _________________ Regards

garcor is talking about the corrections collected through mapshare being built in to the map, rather than being available through the mapshare system. The number of mapshare updates should be reduced with a new map release, beacuse some of the corrections have been made to the map. _________________ 920T Navcore 8.300; Western & Central Eu 815; NA 815; TTS v7

The number of MapShare corrections for a brand new map will be ZERO, because MapShares made on one map are also not downloaded for a different map. That's why we have to keep re-doing all the corrections over and over again every time we get a new map.
so there are two issues here:
Mapshare corrections are still map-specific
Mapshare corrections are still not being used yet to improve the base mappping of subsequent versions. |

Speaking of Mapshare, I don't think TomTom is utilizing this idea to it's full potential.
Fore example if the triplog.dat files that are stored in the statdata folder that gets sent to TomTom store actual driving speeds then the speeds for all roads should get updated automatically.
We could see where people have had to slow down for construction and when the construction is over.
Right now TomTom is expecting users to correct it themselves once construction starts and again once construction is over.
Correcting road speeds is one of the slowest things to try and correct using mapshare and I don't think many users do it and think it could be automated if TomTom was storing this data in the triplogs why not utilize it.
I know the TomTom North American Maps have very limited speed data and that NAVTEQ that supplies Garmin maps has much more speed data.
If TomTom would utilize this speed data then there's would be much more accurate as it would show an average speed that drivers are driving and could be updated in real time once there is construction.
They also should fix there rounding of kilometers to miles
I think the biggest problem is that they convert everything to kilometers that are rounded to the nearest 5 or 0
For example if I enter in 30 Miles per Hour = 48.28032 Kilometers per Hour
TomTom does not show however that it is rounding 48 to 50
So when it gets converted back
50 Kilometers per Hour = 31.068559611866696 Miles per Hour
We also know that TomTom does not store any decimal points |
