Hi
I have a spreadsheet with 8000 London POI on it.
It shows name, address, postcode, and type (of POI.
Is there anyway of putting them on to TT as a POI even it means bundlling
them all into one category.
I was hoping there was some sort of cut and paste way of doing it!
PS Im using a MAC
Cheers |

You're going to have to convert the addresses into Lat/Lon before you can do anything with them? _________________ Darren Griffin |

The OV2 format that is normally used requires 3 fields for each location.
Longitude,Latitude,"Name Text"
I only know of Windows programs that do the conversion, of which I would use the XLS Converter from our very own Oldie. _________________ Richard

The .xls converter still requires your data has Lat/Lon information before it can work.
Until you have that, there is no simple conversion utility that will read an address and convert to Lat/Lon or a standard POI format. _________________ Darren Griffin |

If you can import the data into a copy of MS AutoRoute, it can then be exported into a format that can be read by POIEdit (& possibly XLS Converter). This will use the postcodes to create latitude/longitude information, so won't be absolutely precise, but will get most of them on the correct street, within 100 yards or so of the correct location. |

Unfortunately AutoRoute 2007, the latest version, doesn't handle the Channel Isles Postcodes.
It doesn't like some of the addresses much either. _________________ Richard

Hi
Just been using the xls convereter, it's brilliant, so thanks to Oldboy for the link and thanks to Oldie for making the converter available. I had around 9000 poi's which were sorted in seconds |
