|
|
Well, I can think of one way, but I'm wondering if it's the only way: Creating custom sounds for all the route-related audio (minus poi warning sounds) and just replacing them with dead audio files (ie. audio files of silence).
If there's another way, I'd love to hear it. If not, perhaps someone can direct me to a link that shows how to create and install custom audio into the tomtom Go.
"But why?", you may ask. Well, because the route-related audio drives me crazy. Don't want to hear that thing babbling all the time. Just the POI warnings would be good for me.
Thanks Guys,

Change Preferences/ Voice Preferences/ Disable Voice, there is also a Silent voice file that was creates some time ago to achieve the same thing, if you need that let me know and I will send it over - Mike |

You don't mention which Device this is for.
Later units have a Menu Option to do just this.

Sorry, it's the TTG 300 I have. I thought since this section was for TomTom Go/Rider/Ones that it'd be redundant to state that.

I only have a 'turn off sound' option available, and I pretty sure that turns off all sound including poi warnings. I'm on version 7.162 of the TTG300.
If you could hook me up with the silent voice files that'd be great!! Do you have a link for that?

If i remember you can select a voice that is greyed out and this will make it silent. |

Thanks for the suggestion but this doesn't work unfortunately--at least not with the TTG300. It will say you haven't selected an available voice or something like that if you try it. |

My 720 did this to me a few weeks ago.
It led me to thinking this as a possible solution to your problem:
How about selecting a voice on the unit, then deleting that voice from the unit by hooking up to your PC and using TTHome or Windows Explorer? _________________ Asus zenFone Android CamerAlert

For the older devices it is much simpler just to install the silent voice pack though? _________________ Darren Griffin |

As you've now discovered, different versions of software on different models have different menu options and also give different results when you try "workrounds".
That's why it really helps if everyone can give as much detail in their first post in a new topic.
As an example, there is a list HERE of what features were available on each model with v7.2 software. I think the "disable voice" comes under the "voice preferences section, which (for that software version anyway) was only available on the x20 models (the x30 and x40 models weren't around then). |

I installed Darren's Silent Voice on my GO700 years ago. I now want to install it on my ONE XL .
I've downloaded the 4 x files (data99.bmp, data99.chk, data99.vif & licence.txt). Please remind me, what goes where? |

You can delete the licence.txt file and put the remaining three files in to the "voices" folder on the device.
Switch the nav unit on and got to Change Preferences/ Manage Voices/ Switch voice, if the device asks about only making voices in the same langauge available answer NO, scroll through the items listed until you see the silent voice and select it - Mike |
