Any else find the setting to auto turn on night mode useless? Mine's sometimes turns on night mode during broad daylight, and other times stays on day mode even though it's dark out. |

Cool, so I dont have a faulty unit then?
How hard can it be to include a light sensor that works? |

Often wondered why TT didn't implement the same method Garmin did. As the sat nav knows its longitude and latitude, the date and the time it can calculate dusk and dawn and just change when needed..... |

That would be a much simpler and much more useful set-up. _________________ Darren Griffin |

It seems to work mostly OK on my 540. It seems to be set a bit wrong in that it switches to night mode a little early but not excessively so. It switches to night mode in tunnels and heavy tree cover too.
A couple of times it has stopped working which has required a hard reset to fix.
I'm not sure I completely understand how it works as even when it's working "normally" I don't seem to be able to make it switch by just covering the sensor, it seems to need a "natural" change in the light levels.

I found this strange too - completely covering the sensor with your finger has no effect |

Mine switched to the "night" setting the other day in broad daylight and I was unable to see it properly. I now switch between day and night manually, it is far less bother. |

My 520 goes to night view at the mere hint of a cloud in the sky. I think TomTom are under the impression that we walk round with our Sat Nav's held at arms length rather than having them installed in a vehicle.
Like mikero I've now reverted to changing it manually. |

Glad to see mines not the only unit with an issue with this feature , sometimes its switches to night vision when dark , sometimes it just dims the screen but stays on day colours , sometimes it does nothing at all , Okay it's not a major issue to manually switch , but still I would like the item to do what it says on the tin.
Still impressed with the purchase over all though |

Well my 720T works perfectly, even varying brightness levels depending upon just how dark/light it is outside the car. It is connected through the cigarette lighter socket, not a cradle of any sort. |
