Anyone found a suitable in-car docking kit for the G940?
Carcomm, Brodit, et al?
.
The one on the TomTom Accessories page looks OK but -
[a] Where does the power supply fit?
[b] When clicking on the given link for the required Pro-clip (www.tomtom-proclip.com) I cannot find anyway to order it !

The mount looks identical to the one supplied with the x40 except it has a plate rather than a sucker. The mini USB will plug in the back as in the supplied version.
The proclip link and chooser works OK for me, it may be your browser settings?

Carcomm will be releasing their x40 cradle very soon.

It's an identical cradle to the one supplied in the box except it substitutes the AMPS bracket for the windscreen sucker.

Bypass TomTom and order the ProClip from DSLDevelopments here in the UK. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Problem sorted -
www.tomtom-proclips.com will not work with Firefox - only Internet Explorer !
And after all that the required proclip is not available 'till mid-December at 34.95Euros.
.
Darren......
Thanks, will try DSL Developments.

Thanks again Darren.
DSL Developments - nice site.
Even had the Proclip for my rather ancient Rover 45 !
Placed order and bookmarked for future reference.

TomTom price including delivery is £31.90.
DSL Developments price is £42.07.
I know which one I prefer! |

You need to be careful that you are comparing like with like. The DSL Developments cradle is the fully featured one with iPod Connect, Audio Out etc hence the extra cost although it's not made clear on their page.
It's on 'Pre-Order' because this version of the mount is not yet available. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Mikero....
The TT version may be cheaper but you still need to buy the Pro-clip for your car (unless you already have one of course.)
.
I purchased the TT version as
[a] It's available now and
[b] Not interested in the iPod/Audio extra as the FM tuner works great for me.
.
I then bought the Pro-clip from DSL (very surprised to find they actually had one for my 8-yr old car !)
.
Total cost - TT Dock £31-90, Pro-clip £17-60 = £49-50.
.
Of course, if you don't mind drilling holes in your dash you can do without the Pro-clip.

I bought the Pro Clip a couple of years ago so I will just have to change the dock. (When it arrives from TomTom..it is still showing as PENDING on my account, although I ordered it on 4th December). |

If this is the simple one on the TT web site, then you've probably had the same email I have to say it has shipped. Permanent mountings take a step forward, even if without the audio out. |

I was about to send the same email to you !
Yes it has been shipped. (By UPS).
UPS tracking number not yet working - presumably because it's still on the way to the UPS depot at their end.

The docking kit I received today from TomTom has 3 connections on the back. Mini USB, RDS-TMC and Audio out. |

Ah classic TomTom! I asked them only this week if the version they were selling on the their website was the standard or full featured one and was told the former. They said the full feature one was still being tested and would be available Q1 2009.
So just one more example of the left hand not knowing what the right is doing, and this was a senior contact who we would have hoped knew the facts! _________________ Darren Griffin |
