After some exchanges with Road Angel, the latest camera update available as of late last week, seems to have filled in all the blanks.
But, my TomTom 940 does not seem to be beeping at all for SPECS cameras or for the "!" which I believe is an accident hotspot. I am sure it beeped originally for hotspots, but not anymore. It does display the camera warnings on screen...just no sound.
I can't see anything wrong in the settings either. And if you switch off camera alerts and switch them back on, it should reset everything back o defaults anyway.
I remember having this problem with my 930 for a while where it stopped alerting after I docked with Home..and then it suddenly started working again.
Anyone else seeing the same? It does beep for normal speed cameras just fine. |

You have not mentioned it but I will point out the obvious just in case you overlooked it. On the x40 the camera warnings for the TomTom cameras are not set up in the POI Warning Section. You need to go into TomTom Services then TomTom Safety Cameras. If the bottom left yellow triangle says "enable alerts" then do this to enable alerts. When it says "disable alerts" then click on the other yellow triangle with the COG next to it "Change Warning Preferences" and you will see a list of types of TomTom safety camera and you can set them up as you want.
Other cameras downloaded outside of TomTom such as from this site need to be set up from the different Warn When Near POI function. |

It doesn't do that. It remembers your settings if you switch the alerts on and off.
There are 12 different categories under the "safety camera" alerts page, (one of which is for blackspots). All of them can be set up individually.
Sounds like you haven't got the settings sorted as you'd like.... |

Okay..I will go through them one by one then. I have never changed any of them...in fact I have never gone into the settings screen at all. So how they have managed to change on their own is a bit of a mystery. |

Could I ask a kind chap on here with an x40 to go into the TomTom Cameras screens and check what SOUND their warnings are set to for
All
Accident blackspot
The two SPECs options
I found these are all set to NONE for me.
But the fixed cameras and some others are set to Polite 3
I have never played with these settings before, so these seem to be the defaults. But this doesn't seem quite right to me! |

On mine, those three categories are set to "silence".
So are:
"Toll road Safety cameras"
Restricted road Safety cameras
Miscellaneous Safety cameras
Mobile camera Hot Spots
Ungated Railway crossings |

Andy, firstly, thank you very much for checking for me
Secondly, don't you find those defaults rather odd?! ;) |

Normally... Yes!
With TomTom... nothing surprises me any more. |
