Hi,
I hae had my 970T for over a year and overall been pleased with it however the TMC function is not as good as expected. If it alerts to a road closure or accident it then indeed offers the user a 'divert' function, however if it alerts to congestion, it just tells you the average speed and even if the average speed is 5 mph does not offer you a divert option.
Is there anything I am doing wrong or can it be set up to divert for congestion as well?
My fathers Garmin alerts congestion to how many minutes delay there will be and always offers him the option of diverting. Shame this feature is not on the X970T
Cheers

With the Garmin TMC it only offers you a divert if the Diversion is quicker than sitting in the traffic.
Is this not true with the VM TMC? |

Thanks for the reply.
I am not sure. I have only noticed the option for accidents and road closed. You may be right though but it hardly ever gives me the option to divert.
Cheers

According to page 44 of the manual (10.6 Mb PDF)
Quote: | To automatically recalculate a route in the event of a serious problem
notified by the traffic information service. You can choose between:
• Automatic: The system automatically performs the rerouting
taking into account the traffic information.
• Off Re-routing: does not take place irrespective of the
traffic information.
• Manual: When important traffic information is received,
the user decides whether the itinerary should be re-routed or
not according to the new information |
It would appear Automatic takes into account the delay vs the diversion. |

Hmm,
Well mine is set to manual however if I get a severe delay (congestion) flagged as discussed it does not give me a bypass option. I will however click it on to automatic and see if that makes much difference.
thanks very much for your reply.
Best wishes
