Hi all - another novice hear who would like your help.

On a number of occasions I have found that my TomTom Navigator 5 running on QTek 9020i loses GPS signal and the TomTom exits from it's application. Although I do get loss of signal in a quite a few places I have noticed that this also happens at the same site everytime. I have spoken to other people that thave a TomTom unit - and they don't always get the same problem. I do have an active sim card in the Qtek.

Any ideas anybody? One particular location is near a USAF - can the aviation instrumentation effect GPS?

suggestions most welcome

Strong RF transmission can affect GPS receivers depending on their design. If the GPSr doesn't reject unwanted RF signals then these can overpower the receiver and cause it to loose signasl from the weaker satellite transmissions. Also mobile phone transmissions can similarly affect GPSrs. The digital nature of their transmissions can be quite problemattic

Thanks Phil

As it is pocket pc with a phone and I also have another mobile in the car as well - maybe it is overpowered by phone signals,

Thanks again
