|
|
Hi Folks,
I'm quite new on here. I have recently subscribed and downloaded the PGPSW Camera Database (full Speed Zoned version with accompanying voice files inc. pMobile). At first glance this seems great although I haven't used it in anger yet - only drove a couple of miles around my local area since installing.
My question: Is this Database supposed to be Directional? If so, does this aspect need enabling in some way as the few cameras I have passed in my local area (gatso's & truvelo's) are all announced regardless of the direction they are approached. I will be doing some considerable miles in the next few days so will get a better opportunity to test and feedback.
Thanks.
p.s my unit is a Go720 currently running navcore 8.204 (x40 version), v815 map, with v7 TTS (yes I too have had the stuttering voice issues etc. associated with navcore 8.3 & v815 map). |

The database is directional on supported devices. TomTom do not allow third parties to use directional alerts as yet so on a TomTom our directional data is not supported. _________________ Darren Griffin |

We live in hope No reason to believe they will though as directionality is the only positive thing they have! _________________ Darren Griffin |

As an aside I still get notification of cameras not on my route (yes, the option has been ticked).
I've learnt to live with this though sometimes a bit annoying when on the A1 and get warning of a 30/40mph camera. |

Warn on route still has a cone of detection so it's not perfect. Personally I leave it off as I use my device for warnings all the time even when no route is plotted, the false warnings I can live with. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Personally, I dont like the directional info. Its fine on the motorway but I know most of the Edinburgh gatsos are programmed to work in either direction as my colleagues have discovered..... |

Same here, rather have the extra warnings than points and a fine. _________________ Triumph Tbird 1700. And now a Bonnie T100. |

I'd rather get an extra warning than none!! _________________ Jock

Are you absolutely sure about that? The cameras may well flash, but my understanding was that standard Gatsos are not type-approved for use front-facing in the UK. Plus you'd probably be out of range by the time of the second flash.
Also, where are the lines on the road, if any? If they are on the opposite side of the post then that would be for if the camera is physically rotated, which is a different kettle of fish entirely.
Can you confirm for definite, or does anyone else have info on this? |

lines extend in 4 groups on the road, both before and after the cameras on each side. I got flashed in the traditional direction too recently and phoned up as I was definitely only doing 25mph. Was told they had caught someone driving in the other direction and that some local camera were operating both ways. |

Lines are often put on both sides of the road in order to catch those that try to evade prosecution by driving on the wrong side of the road through the capture area.
If they are both before and after the camera it sounds like it is reversible (i.e. can be spun round).
If is a GATSO
then it can only be rear facing.
However a Truvelo (Note differnce to GATSO)
can capture from the front and back.
From the description it sounds like a reversible GATSO. |

Is there an easy 'global' way to switch 'warn only on Route' on/off or am I stuck with changeing each poi individually?! |

You will have to set that for each POI Category that you use the "Warn Only if POI On Route" function with, there is no global setting for this - Mike |
