I have just purchased a 720T knowing that i can update to the latest maps on the 30 day map update garuantee tomtom offer. Set up my tomtom last night on the computer and it came up you can update your maps, so i clicked download which took over an hour to download but when it was installing it on my 720T i run out of memory by 1,6MB
Have i done something wrong or do i need to remove some software first ?
I am now left with a tomtom that doesn't work as when i select the map it just come up with an error.
any help would be appreciated to get me going.
thanks

I dont have the system with me so will need to update tonight exactly what the message said but i think it was something like 'unable to activate map' or 'unable to select map'
i think its the fact that the map update was not completed as it run out of memory. |

For a situation like this, try running the Clear Flash tool found here _________________ David |

That normally works with activation problems, but won't if you really have run out of space.
Most important question, do you have a back-up you can go back to. If so, do that first, then use Windows Explorer to examine your Go's internal memory to see if there are any voices etc you can remove to create enough space.
Remind me if it was a Western Europe or a Western and Central Europe map you had originally and you are trying to install.
If I remember correctly, you will need a memory card to fit the latest software and the latest W+C Europe map or the WE map that ISN'T the "2GB" version. |

0845 161 0009 is the number the support, it sounds like your new map isn't activated which is a function the useless TomTom Home application should have done for you - there is no way to do this manualy - Mike |

Hi,
You said in the original post you went for the latest map update, did you update the software first
If you have just bought the TT720, then there will be about 3 (I think it is) separate software updates.
I bought a TT720 2 weeks ago and had to do that before going for the latest maps.
Just a thought, but suppose if you hadn't then TT HOME would keep telling you to update anyway. _________________ Triumph Tbird 1700. And now a Bonnie T100. |

Take it out and you'll find it's just a piece of plastic shaped vaguely like an SD card! _________________ Dennis
