I`m thinking of buying a Garmin 760t satnav after previously owning a tomtom satnav. Is there a way of backing up the garmin before installing custom poi`s because if there is a problem I will need to restore everything. On the tomtom satnavs there is a backup and restore feature using tomtom home. I wonder if there is something similar for the garmin devices |

The Garmins act just like a portable device when attached to a PC, and it's a simple matter of copying and pasting to make backups. |

I have a 2720 bought second hand. When I connect the unit to my pc it does not appear as a separate device. I have loaded the correct driver from the Garmin site and POI Loader sees the device but I cannot access the files on the 2720 to make a backup. What am I doing wrong?

Nothing. The 2720 doesn't act like a Mass Storage Device, like my old i3. However if the maps and data is held on an SD card you can remove the card and back it up with a card reader. |

Thanks for that. At least these GPS devices keep our brains working.
