|
|
Hi,
I use two phones in my car - 1 for work and 1 personal. When I have both I use the in car handsfree for work and Tom Tom for personal. No problems.
Now, when I don't have my work phone, I want to use my in car handsfree and not the Tom Tom for my personal phone. The problem is the Tom Tom 'takes over' when connecting i.e. the phone will pair with my car first, but then it will disconnect and Tom Tom will pair. I have looked on my phone to see if I can get a prompt when connecting with the Tom Tom, but there is no prompt i.e. it will always connect.
Anyone know how I can resolve this?

Might be useful to know what hardware (phones and model of sat nav and in car BT system) you are using.
For example i have a Nokia 6288 and it gives me the option with each paired device to set it to "Auto Connect Without Confirmation" - Yes / No. No means i have to confirm each connection. |

Well you can always switch off the bluetooth on the TT unit.
Most phones, when initially paired, allow you to "always connect" or ask for permission.
Is there not an option on the phone under bluetooth - paired devices and an option then to change the setting? It is mobile phone dependant though.
Having two mobile phones normally gives the opposite problem - when I have my work mobile, personal mobile, car handsfree and TT unit it is always hard to get them to connect to the correct devices! |

The phone is a SE K810i.
The car is a Fiat Bravo with the inbuilt Blue and me.
I can't see any option re 'always connect' with the TT. Strange because other devices have that option. |

It's usually on the phone, under the Bluetooth options. In the case of Nokias under Paired Devices once the pairing has been set up. Although I'm sure you are asked when you pair it.... |

From memory, Nokias ask you if you want to connect automatically when you pair initially, but there is no option to change it without unpairing then pairing again.
But if I turn on the car handsfree unit before the TT it will connect and the TT says Mobile not connected and if I turn on the Go, it will connect and the car unit won't. _________________ TT Go Essential |

On my Nokia 6230 & 6288 - Goto Bluetooth, Paired Devices, Select the device you have already paired and select Options, "Auto-Conn Without Conf" - Yes / No.

So you are saying it will pair to the first unit you switch on?
swebb seems to have a different problem

I think Greenglide's suggestion about turning Bluetooth off for any devices when you don't need it. |

And yes it connects to the first device turned on and stays connected to it unless it is turned off. then it connects to the other one. _________________ TT Go Essential |
