I've been trying to take Tomtom up on their map update offer but every time I try and check out it says that there is a problem with their server.
Anybody got any ideas?[/code] |

Yeah, try at a later time. TT's servers are held together with chewing gum and string. Sometimes the string breaks. _________________ David |

I've been trying to do this for days and days, TomTom support have been asking me questions every hour practically for the last week and have sent it to Level 2 twice, still no resolution. |

|

I tried the first time on Friday, and costantly got the server connection problem.
Did some usual maintenance: reset the Go 720, deleted and re-installed Home 2.4. Nothing!
Then today, after hitting checkout.. something is different.
After a slightly longer delay, a payment processing page
After putting in the usual payment info, payment failed
So it looks like they advanced their problem, but still not sorted.
(and yes, I tried 2 CC's, so it's no a problem my end)
At least you can see the failed orders on your TT account now.
Prices seem to vary though. For my 720 Western Europe, they want £39.80 upgrade (7.05 to 8.10) and then £9.95/Qtr |

Just look and got the error message as well, but for me to go from 7.05 8.10 they want £25.90 and then £12.95/Qtr. Not sure why my copy would be more per Qtr than others ?? |

Still crap here, not working at all. Christ, here's me, for days wanting t give Tomtom money and they are so incompetent they're unable to deprive me of my hard earned cash. You'd think in the current credit crunch climate they'd be able to get this right.
Laughable, laughable |

Reply from TomTom Support:
"It has come to our attention that we are experiencing challenges with our Plus Services Server, which may be affecting some of our customers. Technicians are working hard to resolve this and we hope to have the service available again shortly." |

Tried again, looks like there are some small changes, the traffic renewal is back and working, but it still fails after the verified by visa is accepted.
TT must seriously not want our money.
The longer I wait, the less inclined I am to purchase the update. |

Just tried again and still no luck.
In this day and age it is laughable that a company pushes out a major sales drive like this without giving the customer the ability to actually buy anything, even when they want to! |

I called support. They told me not to try again as my 'email address' has been blocked by their internal bank because of the failed attempts.
I would not be surprised if every major bank has black listed them for excessive failed transactions. |

Turns out there was a problem with my tomtom account.
I had to create a new account and link the GO to the new account and then it worked.
Not perfect however, after the payment process on home, there was a (new) wait before I got an error. But when I checked my order history I see it was marked as "payment in progress".
A few minutes later I got a confirmation email. Then low and behold, home found the new maps to download.
Still pretty damn expensive at £79.80 because I got a launch Go 720, so maps were over 12 months old.
Only problem with this solution is my (expired) Traffic+Camera subscription is still on the old account, so I am not offered the (discounted) renewal price of £27.xx, only the (discounted) new price of £35.xx |
