Indeed that is a bargain as long as what you get is the same as portrayed in the picture, I notice they are also selling the useless mk1 RDS-TMC which had the "egg" at the end of the aerial wire at an even lower price - Mike |

Anita.
What is the TMC like in your neck of the woods. It's a bit Iffy in Bexhill.
Which provider is it.
My Honda satnav seems to be quite a bit better than my Mio 3.2, even with an extention arial. |

It was fine indoors, but I'm having trouble getting a signal in the car.
I'd tell you which provider it is if I knew how to find out! _________________ Anita

iTIS Holdings are the company that supply the data, as to where is actually comes from, it is probably from a local Classic FM transmitter, although it could also be from a more local radio station as they also use these for some areas to increase signal coverage. If you want to know the exact transmitter local to yourself I can e-mail you a POI file containing all the transmitter locations employed which allows the device to tell you the distance to each of the transmitters and the frequency it uses (handy for the manual tune option when in an area you are not too sure of radio signals).
As for reception issues in the car, firstly make sure the aerial wire is at least 2 inches away from the edge of the screen, if this doesn't help try it with the car charger unplugged as this could be causing RF interference reducing the effectiveness of the device. - Mike |

OK received it today and it is the new version. On the plus side I now only have 1 cable hanging around,on the negative side it is not as good at picking up stations as the 2nd version.Using V2 I can lock onto my local station within 20 seconds with V3 it takes about 5 minutes. |

Thanks, Mike. The file could be useful.
I don't know whether it has anything to do with it, but the windscreen on my Ka is small, and I had taken the antenna to the right across the bottom of the screen, up the driver's side, and then had to continue across the top of the screen. I've now taken it to the left across the bottom, and then up the passenger's side, and it doesn't need to go across the top, and it's getting a signal with the car on my drive. I may not use the car till Friday, so won't know for a day or two whether it works when I'm driving.
I have noticed that the touch screen seems to be slower to respond with the receiver attached! _________________ Anita

Quick question folks:
Does the newer USB style RDS-TMC receiver come complete with a plug to connect to the vehicle's 12 volt system to power the TomTom unit as well as provide Traffic data?
Or do you have to use the original power cable that came with the TomTom unit together with the newer USB style RDS-TMC receiver?

The original power lead that used to go to the PNA is inserted to the newer RDS-TMC receiver, the receiver contains a short lead with a mini USB plug that supplies data and power to the PNA - Mike |

I've done the same on my car and never had a problem with reception since.
Just the odd dead spot now and again.... |
