Hi all,

I've just upgraded my map so I can use the ALG. As far as I can see it is turned on, but when I get to 800 yrds from the junction I just get a small representation in the bottom left hand corner - isn't it supposed to show full screen ?

Am I missing a setting somewhere ?

Thanks
Hippo

In my experience The reality view ie. picture representation of the upcoming junction, shows at 1/2 mile distance, if its the one your turning off of. The reality picture aslo comes up on major turns even if your not going to pull off at that junction ie. travelling on M25 passing the M11.

Its also worth noting that I also get realty views on "A" roads as well.

The ALG only provides the arrows at the lower left of the screen, if you go to Change Preferences/ Show Lane Images - if it is labeled this way tap it so it gets a red cross through it and try again.

Not all junctions contain the information needed for the reality view, but if you plan a trip from Blackpool to Home then use route demo on the device you should see the feature kick in as the device shows you the route down the M55 - Mike

Thanks guys, I have this switched on ( it has a red cross through it ).

I travel on A12, past M25 J28 on the way home and it did not leap into life apart from the image in the bottom left.

This is new since I upgraded the map so I'm confident that the upgrade worked ok. Before that, it would not let me turn on the ALG it just said my map did not support the feature.

I think I'm getting confused here......

If the preference shows 'hide lane images' and has a red X, does that mean that ALG is ACTIVE currently or INACTIVE?

ALG and 'Show Lane Images' are separate features. AFAIK, only the latter can be enabled/disabled.

How is your status bar displayed? I believe the lane images only show with a horizontal status bar.

Absolutely correct, Darren. I'm sorry. That's what I meant...lane images.

[So........the question stands: with the red X and 'hide lane images', does that mean Lane Images ARE currently active or are INACTIVE.

To Anita: Thanks, yep, I know about the horizontal status bar. I think the problem here is that even with lane images active, Canadian roads don't have the information available.

I just want to be 100% sure I have the preference set properly in order to even try to see images.

I think the image shows what will happen if you select the button. So red cross means it's on now and touching it will turn it off.

It's counterintuitive, every time I get asked I have to think long and hard about the answer.... and then I leave it to someone else to get it right/wrong Wink

It is a strange way of doing it, but if you read the text it is that telling you what will happen if you press the button, the reverse logic is the red cross for option being active, and clear (no red cross) for switched off.
I wonder how many kitchen appliances would last if they were marked up this way?? - Mike

I know it off by heart - I hate the lane images so I have it turned off, but every time I get a reboot, or a switched myself on again without permission, or connect to Home, it resets back to having the damned things on again. So on autopilot, I go through the rigmarole of switching them off again almost by second nature. I've also turned off the ALG which is no help, in my opinion, not even accurate lanes at many junctions.
