We're expecting the full heads-up on this early next week. Apparently Satmap were caught out there as the software was not meant to be shown to press! _________________ Darren Griffin |

Maybe they were caught out by saying that we would have a forum - before we bought the Active 10!
Sorry if I sound a bit negative but in my view they are in breach of contract. And I'm a supporter of the Active 10.
So I look forward to its arrival. _________________ LostMike

Hi
Had this reply to my question about the Route Planner on Wed 8th October 2008, so any time soon hoefully!!:
Quote: | The route planner is all but finished, we are currently testing it in house. It wasn’t supposed to be put up on the website last week, our service provider put it up there before we had tested it in house, so obviously we pulled it as soon as we found out. Everything’s looking great and its quite an exciting time for us here as we have been pushing for this for a long time, rest assured we are trying to get it up there A.S.A.P! Our part with the planner is now finished but before we can put it up we have to wait for the written contract from OS allowing us to post 1:25k mapping up on there. As soon as this is signed and sealed the route planner will go up. |

I saw the satmap people at the cycle show in Eals court last weekend. They were demo-ing the online route planner, and it did look excellent. Registered A10 owners will have a secure log on to get access to OS maps for the whole of the UK for free, anytime. They said it will be 50,000:1, not 25:000:1 mapping, due to their agreement with OS, and are just waiting for OS to sign it off before putting it live.
I think this is really a lot of extra value for the A10, as they said, they are effectively giving away Memory Map's product. I just hope it all gets sorted without the customary 2-3 months of "it's coming next week"!
Also, they said there's a new firmware version 1.3 due for release in the next few weeks, so hopefully this will solve a few of the remaining glitches such as random failure to start recording the trail, and the inability to have "track up" in advanced power saving mode. |

But the-hug website already offer 1:50,000 mapping and has for some time without any complicated log on just the inconvenience for some of it opening on Ben Nevis and having to move away.
I look forward to the software upgrade and wonder how long the weeks will be?
Oh dear I am sounding grumpy but then maybe they should reply to my e-mails. _________________ LostMike

Hello all this is my 1st post on here. I am a new satmap customer, having just bought one today. I was just about to order the full 50,000:1 GB map for £200, but having read a few posts on here, are people saying that if I hang on a couple of weeks I should be able to get it for free and save myself a couple of hundred quid? Surely this is too good to be true. |

It does sound good doesn't it.
But sadly I think what it means is that you can use 1:50,000 mapping via the Internet to set up your route that you can then load onto the A10. However that will be the route only and not the map. If you want a map on your A10 you will have to buy it.
At least that is what I assume. _________________ LostMike

OK cheers, mate. Looks like I'll have to get the credit card out again. |
