Just wondering as it looks really good, as you can pretty much create your own GPS program by all accounts ~ without knowing programming!
The manual looks pretty complex though!
Has anyone else given it ago?
Id love to give it ago, as i love making up my own configuration on things and making it personal.
I just wondered does anyone know if it will also save a trip log file, just like its sister program GPS Speed Sentry does - and can preset audio overspeed warnings?
These are about the only few of the options i dont see but would need to be the main feature or its not worth it.

Trevor is indeed the creator of this application (and few other GPS related applications) you can find the e-mail link by pressing the "Contact" link on This Page, being located in New Zealand bear in mind the time difference, an answer might not be instantaneous - Mike
which appears to be correct but registration is disabled? maybe an email (contact form here: http://tchartdev.com/) would be the best bet - and ask about the forum too!

Hello MPW,
I will look into the forum issue. I had some issues with spam a few weeks back and upgraded the board. Looks like it may have disabled registrations during the upgrade! No wonder its been so quiet
If you have any questions about the software you can poats them here.
The documentation is a lot to wade through (and everyone knows how much developers love to write documentation). The best thing to do it to grab another skin and see what it contains. They are just text files after all!
If thats still uncomfortable Ive just started building an application which is a GUI to build skins on a PC. Its still early days though!
Regards

Hi Trevor!
I have been meaning to email you about your excellent programs but I never seem to find the time ( I blame this forum thing, its very addictive )
Re: GPS Skinner, I have looked through pretty much all the skins available for the program, but I cannot see on any of them the overspeed sensor, or the trip logging to csv options.
I do love to `play` and will give it ago either way to see what i can create.
With regards to GPS Speed Senty, if you ever read my posts on here your know to me its the best thing since sliced bread! I use it for lots of things.
However, I would love some extra upgrades to be added to it. :o)
One big improvement for me, would be a one button press option which Resets All Timers & Creates and Saves A New Log menu option.
At the moment this is a 2 stage slightly winded process. A one-stop option which does all this automatically would be ace!
Also, It would be handy to have the clock / timers running only once im on the move - rather then once ive got myself setup when it says my trip is running. I do prefer to have my movement option set to 0 so i can see where i have been sitting at traffic lights etc. but just be handy to have a start timer only when first move type option.
Another really silly ( but love to have! ) upgrade, would be a milage marker audio option. i.e if i said notify me when ive travelled a mile ( then 2 miles etc ) play my audio sound. With an option to change this to say every 10 miles if going on a long journey.
Talking of audio warnings, is there a way i can set my own threshold to when the Warn sound plays, in relation to my overspeed plays.
for example, if i wanted my overspeed set at 71mph, my warning speed seems to play at around 60mph. ideally id prefer this warning to be around 68mph.
Just while im on a roll, can i ask for one more? :o)
If i was to go on a long trip, take a break and just switch off GPSSS the timer of the trip stops. ( correctly so), but when i restart it again the timer starts from where it left off - is there an option we could have which would add on your break ? so it would still say your full trip time?
Just one more!
Any chance that if the actual integer speed is less then 3 figures, that the speed box on the top right could be showing only 2 figures and in a larger font? - i.e rather then 070 its a nice big 70 ?
GPS Speed Sentry is an excellent program, its even got pride of place as my bottom left hot key button on my PDA. ( vice Calender )!
All the very best.

Hello MPW,
Wow, what a list!
Just kidding. The issue I have at the moment as since GPSSS is a few years old and had bits bolted on over time. This has made adding new features a bit troublesome to incorporate without breaking the other parts of it. Thats unfortunately a reality of software development.
Writing GPS Skinner was a great breath of fresh air and provided me many opportunities to improve things that GPSSS already does or in some cases should be doing (for example individual times for moving/stopped).
That said, the time is coming to rewrite GPSSS, Ive already started in my head and hope to start in the coming months or two. So many of your ideas are already in the plan (in my head at least).
Anyway, I will start documenting these things formally so they are in one place when I start. For now I will see what I can add into GSP Skinner (such as logging, which BTW is already on the list).
Regards

The latest version has revised icons for the small speed readout. The icons are now larger and easier to read (it does still have 3 digit though).
On the GPS Skinner front, we recently added;
1) Speed limit warning (like in GPS Speed Sentry). Camera warning are not available yet
2) Google maps widgets
3) And a personal favourite a GUI skin editor
Our first WVGA (for Xperia/Touch HD) has also been uploaded and its awesome!
We've been having some issues with our website & forum lately so shortly we will be revising our support strategy and opening up a bug tracking and feature request system.
Regards

Hi Trevor,
Thanks for the updates, with regards too...
Reset & create new log.
My softkey is Exit and have Menu on the right. Im not sure if your softkey resets AND creates new log, but that would be more benefical if you can do that - and have it as a menu item..
IF you make it that it will Reset All ( with no msgbox to confirm a Yes ), and creates a new log with the standard default name in the usual directorty wth no OK needed, that will be ideal and save alot of time and fluff at 6am.
New Icons & look
Look good, im still playing at the moment.
I did notice, on the location screen, the one with the co-ords on it, i seem to get alot of `squares` where the correct digits should be. must be a slowness to convert the data onto the screen or something. Never see that with the earlier versions.
I would still like to see 070 turned into a bigger 70 if under 100.
Also the co-ords at the top of the screen, i have lat/long showing seem to update very slowly this time?
The updates to GPS skinner look very good, might have a play if i ever get five mins!
Many Thanks
