I don't understand! I've downloaded the Speed Camera database to my Garmin Nuvi 310 and sure enough I'm warned of various cameras and zones, but it comes up with a speed check that bares no relation to what I'm travelling at or the speed limit in question. Moreover, they're fixed levels eg 19mph or 31mph. What's it telling me? Or have I downloaded the wrong files for my Nuvi? I'm also receiving warnings when there is nothing around that I can see anyway.

19mph = 30kmh

looks like you had poi loader set to m and km instead of feet and miles. change it in poi loader and reinstall the camera's.

MaFt, Thanks for the advice. I have tried without any joy. I've only been able to reload the POI and the database. There's no obvious way of changing the POI as you suggested. I can't seem to access a screen to change any parameter, let alone kph/mph. The excel spreadsheet of the Gatsos etc are all in mph, but the nuvi is stubbornly reading these figures as km not miles.

Any suggestions

MaFt - no worries, at least I hope not. Have just found a file on the c drive which allows me to change kph to mph. I'll try it out later. Thanks again for your help.

The setting you need to change from Metric to imperial is not on the Garmin, it is infact on the POILoader application on the PC. By default the dropdown box is set to Meters and KPH, change this to Feet and MPH. The actual text is under the Browse button where you tell the application where the POI File actualy is. it is entitled
"What units should be used for distance and speed?"
Simply change this setting and re-load your POI's - Mike

Thanks Mike, all is working fine now - and alright, it just took me a while to find my way round! Trouble is I'll have forgotten what to do if it happens again! Getting old is very frustrating!

Thankfully the Garmin POI Loader remembers that setting for next time, so nothing to do or remember Smile

I have the same units problem on my Nuvi 300. Have tried to follow the instructions stated earlier in the forum but cannot find the drop down box to allow you to change units in POI Loader. Do I need to go to Specsavers or am I missing something?

scuse me folks....

new here, just downloaded the cameras for uk and europe to put on my nuvi 255.

I point the poi loader to the files that i have unzipped and it says something like install all pois at the same time.

so daft question is... because i want both uk and europe do i extract them all to one folder on the pc then upload from the one or do i do it twice ... once with uk info and then with eu info.

does that make sense or have i had too much beer?

Alan.

You'll need to the the 2 databases once each because then UK one needs to be loaded in MPH and the Europe one in KPH. Full instructions are here
