|

i submitted a long time ago some local pubs under the food and drink -pub section. two of these pubs now have become dining pubs. i have tried changing the poi's on the site to dining pubs but they keep getting reverted back to pubs.
i have tried requesting deletion of the poi so i can submit it again under the new section of dining pub. but again no joy.
has anyone else had this problem of changing poi's that you submitted. |

hi,
'dining pub' is a list of pubs as opposed to just a pub that offers food. similar to those in the good pub guide, but these are specifically for food. this will probably be why the category gets changed back.
more info here: http://diningpubs.co.uk

I would refer you to Submission Guidelines - POI database, in which it says:
Quote: | 7. Dining Pub Subcategory
The Dining Pub subcategory is special as it has been created from the lists on the Dining Pubs website, see http://www.diningpubs.co.uk
As this is a special category of pubs, ie not just ones that serve food as well as drinks, new entries will only be added to it if you also submit the webpage reference from the Dining Pubs list. |

Sorry to say I have my reservations about this category, some of the entries in the guide are distinctively Pubs that serve food and thus severely limiting the identification of Pubs that do food as well simply because they are not in the guide. _________________ Moto G5s Plus, Sygic 17.4.8 |

I tend to agree - the problem is that anyone can add entries to the Dining Pubs website without any verification being carried out. It's not really a list of good quality dining pubs / gastropubs, but instead a list of pubs where people have eaten and decided to post this on the web. For instance, some (but not all) Wetherspoons are classed as dining pubs!
It's not actually that disimilar to the system we had previously where people could add POIs to the category using their own criteria for deciding whether an establishment is a pub or a dining pub.
In an ideal situation, perhaps we could use the entries in one of the independent gudes, though I realise this would probably take up more time and effort than PGPSW staff feel worthwhile for what is a free service. (Good Pub Guide series would have been ideal, but of course they refused permission). |

I have nothing against any of the Good pub guide or any other pub Food sites but the whole idea of being allied to another site goes against the whole philosophy of the Pgpsw database, The only answer is to create a new category called_ Pubs that do food_ or similar without being restricted by other websites limitations. It would be interesting to know why this category was ever tied to a third party site ?? _________________ Moto G5s Plus, Sygic 17.4.8 |
