Anyone want to buy an as-new RDS-TMC aerial ? SOLD!

I think for a FREE service the TT traffic warnings work very well on my 730t, they do for me anyways, but nothing is perfect & if this traffic service is going to be put down then I will defend it because it's not often you get a FREE service that does work most of the time.

If anyone wants a traffic warning service that is, perhaps, more reliable then you will need to pay for it but when people complain about paying then complain when it's free I can't see how anyone would ever be happy with the traffic warning service Confused

The TomTom devices use information from iTIS Holdings who use a number of different radio stations around the country. Classic FM is the one they use the most, other smaller stations are used as regional fillers in areas deviod of a good Classic FM signal.

Sorry if that's an obvious question but, living in Guernsey we don't have any Traffic Announcement radio stations so i haven't been able to try it out yet.

In your part of the world maybe it is inaccurate as you say so it is not of much use.

I found it to be very accurate in the south of the UK & very accurate while driving almost the whole length of the UK then over to Ireland on a recent holiday. I would hate to think that people would be put off from using this free service just because a few have issues with it.

I know it has been said before but for me the aerial wire (and lozenge) positioning makes a huge difference. To re-iterate 2" away from Pillar and lozenge as far from TT as possible (not far!)

Or for the best results splice the RDS-TMC receiver aerial to the car aerial, this is a topic very well covered within the forum by now and isn't something I am going to re-start here, but trust me it really does make a big difference to reception - Mike

It could be a ariel issue for you Brian so perhaps you might try moving it around a little because mine worked much better after reading a post here & moving the ariel out a little.

As far as I see it the actual service is FREE because you don't need to pay for it & I purchased the whole kit when I brought my TT so I got everything I needed, flying a kit is free but you need to buy the kite Smile
