Sorry if this has already been discussed.

I have been having a lot of issues setting up wireless data with my TomTom Go 730 and had the same issues as other users were getting i.e. connecting disconnecting over and over.

It seems the problem is with the Bluetooth handsfree connection. I've logged a support call with tom tom, but if you have handsfree enabled, then you will probably encounter the data connection problem above.

To solve the data issue until this problem is resolved:

Go into Mobile Phones
Click Manage Phones
Click Disable Hands Free

Turn the N95 off and on, and turn the Tom tom off and on.

It dont matter which order you turn them on now, data will always work. The minute you have a headphone sign on the N95, data will break, so you need to keep hands free off until someone comes up with a fix if you want a working data connection.

I suspect the problem is, when the handsfree is connected, its a on demand function. When you request data, the phone disconnects the bluetooth to drop the handsfree and reconnects bluetooth to call wireless data. There looks to be some compatability problem when doing this and data is not established.

Been reading these ports and on other forums.
Probably shouldn't say any more as Sod and his followers will strike me down!!

Have N95 8Gb, and TT720/30. No problems with the hands free, it does get 'glitchy' when not on the charger and the battery is low. Connects but no sound.
The battery only seems to last about an hour or just over when not on the car charger, and hands free running-not making calls all the time, but probably 3/4.

Anyway, stick it on charge and no problem.
As an aside to this post, I don't get the stutter problems either when on charge.
Running latest v8 maps and software allowable for 720 updated to 730.

Liek I say, probably upset Sods law now.

After getting standard no problem response from TT first line support pointed them in direction of Mabsey's posting.

somewhat different response then:

Our second line department have informed me that the issue you were having is indeed a issue with Nokia and Sony ericson phones....( not with other brands), unfortunately there is nothing we can do at the moment to assist you further, however the software development is aware of this issue and hopefully a fix will follow with a new application update.

Looks like connection problems could apply to large number of users.

when I asked about this they said that it was not supported as per the website, but that the team may fix it in the future.

Thanks for your fix which does cure any problems with the bluetooth connection. I suspoected it was the way the phone disconnects the headset connection as when the TT is turned off the phone still indicates it is connected on the headset.

I have found that if I do want to make a call, I can.
First disable the data connection.
You may find the phone still has an active packet connection which can be cancelled using the hangup key.
Enable the hands free and reconnect the phone.

You can then make calls etc.

To go back again, I disabled the hands free, enabled the packet connection.
I then re-enabled traffic, this then made the connection and re-established the data link. Trying to connect to the phone didnt work.

Hope this might be of use to someone!
