Moderators aren't on the paid staff of PGPSW, and have no relationship with TomTom to damage. They aren't privvy to information given under NDA as Darren is.
Please respect the fact that Darren has warned everyone, and has probably said more than he should already. _________________ Anita

This question has been answered within another thread but due to its relevance here I have extracted the post:
Taken from This Thread:
Darren wrote: | Ok, I have received the response. If you but any x20 now then the LMG (Latest Map Guarantee) will provide a v8 map.
So you could buy an x20, update the firmware to v8 free of charge and use the LMG and end up with a functionally equivalent device to an x30. Not a bad deal at all! |
As your device is a 530 you have nothing to loose at all, get the new map downloaded using the LMG option, if you get anything other than a v810 map offered DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT - contact TT support on Monday using 0845 161 0009 - Mike |

Tom, it wasn't a criticism - it's just easier to keep everything together if there's only one thread.
Plus this thread also contains the advice about having a little patience and seeing what transpires next week _________________ Andy

I'm not scared easily , but the missing link from above is this thread, which duplicated the subject here. _________________ Andy

Yes the v810 map is from a later data release than the v805, if it is free using LMG then great, if its going to cost you nearly £100 then I would wait and see how far out of date you find the existing map - if it ain't broke don't change it springs to mind - Mike |

I have never used the LMG in anger so I am not too sure what it actually does, if it is offering a new map then it should be the v810 map as this is the most up to date, and as your device has the v805 map on it I would accept the LMG and let it download your free update, there is no point in waiting if using the LMG - Mike |

New maps on September, absolutely stupid. The W&C Europe at 129,95 euros and the Western Europe 109,95 euros. Nice, I have minimal need on the Autumn/Winter period for the maps. I don't need them when driving from home to the job, no holiday trips with car. Next time I'll buy new ones next spring, if there is something for my recent GO720T (I'm not going to buy a new device). _________________ Harry (TT GO720T) |

Why? You may have no trips planned for Autumn/Winter, but those who do may appreciate new maps for their journeys.
Nobody says you have to buy new maps (or a new device) just because they're available, but anyone who does buy them wants them to be as up-to-date as possible. _________________ Anita

I jibbed out and bought them, spoke to TomTom got certain assurances about next weeks astounding revelations, thought "can't be arsed to wait" so didn't. Very good they are too! |
